swiss arms sniper? there was 10 or so complete rifles that made it to canada, mine was not picky with ammo

Those rifles are typically picky in regard to accuracy not simply being able to feed it from a magazine into the chamber which is what I was referring to.

Wow its amazing that when a company that is trying to move forward and help Canadians with a good, accurate semi auto rifle, some people cant help but try and ruin it for everyone else. i bet the same people complaining are the same people that voted for that dumba$$ in parliament.

I definitely had a couple feeding issues with mine, but it was only with cheap ammo, I was shooting Hornady 155 gr and that fed and functioned fantastically. The cheap ammo on the other hand, well you get what you pay for. It is a fantastic rifle IMO, I only sold mine because my current firearms budget will do better shooting 223 instead of 308. That's to say if I had the money I would definitely buy another one though. I guess you could use the analogy of putting regular or premium in a Ferrari.

Does it have some quirks? Yes, but so does every other first run production rifle. From what I've seen though, it seems to have the fewest. Also I've seen a dedication from a manufacturer to improve their product as well. That's something I think we need more of in Canada.

After a couple PM exchanges with Rick from ATRS yesterday I'm glad to hear that the issues that are brought to him are being dealt with and improvements/tweaks are being done to improve future rifles and also correct any older rifles that are having any issues. This is the kind of service I like to hear about.
I look in my firearms safe for things I could live without so I could give a MV a try but I only see one and it would only fetch me about half of what I need. Maybe when these silly house renovations are done I'll be able to save up some more money, lol.

Let's see some pics of targets from someone willing to put some quality ammo or handloads through their rifle. I'm tired of seeing the pics of groups that are only average, with the quality of barrels being used these should be able to easily produce 1moa or better with premium ammo.

ATR posted that they are looking at releasing a modified cam pin for the Modern Hunter to fix the flier issue. So they know about it and are working on fixing that issue. I have no idea if the modern varminter will also require or come with this fix.

We have been experimenting with a minor modification to the cam pin that seems to eliminate true flyers as opposed to barrel deflection from pressure put on the gas block. Once we have concluded the experiment we will share our findings, but things are looking promising.

Strange that the cam pin could effect accuracy, wouldn't the bullet be clear of the muzzle when the carrier starts moving backward rotating the bolt to unlock it?

I won't be considering placing an order till after I've had a chance to shoot one, it will have to be 100% reliable like my AR's are before I'll spend that much money on one. Considering the barrels they're using I'm sure I can find a bullet/powder combination that will shoot well but I don't want to be frustrated by FTF's.
Then again my NR ACR is already proving to be 100% reliable and is a great shooter with my 300BLK and 223 conversions so handling and shooting a MV would really have to impress me to consider another 223 semi.
I've been waiting for the NR DTA MDR to make it's way to Canada, my SRS needs a little brother and the ability to convert between 308 based cartridges and 223 sized cartridges would be awesome, and since they're using Lothar Walther barrels accuracy should be good as well.

The problem was discovered in the very first few MH rifles. The pocket where the cam pin rests when the bolt is in battery was .010" shallow which allowed the cam pin to contact the upper. This effected about 75 rifles from the 1st production run and we have been contacting those with effected guns to get the uppers back to correct this.
The alternate is a modified cam pin, which frankly is a bandaid fix. We would prefer to correct the issue the right way.

On all production runs of Hunters and Varmints, save the 1st 75 hunters produced, this is NOT a problem.

Interesting. Is this something I could drop the rifle off for an afternoon or a day and have resolved? I know mine was one of the 75, and I believe it may have actually #2 of the first run. I also need to have my CH dealt with as well.

It is a quick fix, IF we have a mill that is not running we can get it done in a day. Timing is the key. We will do everything we can to help.

Was this a result of using a cheap DPMS gen1 LR308 Bolt carrier group? Are you going to upgrade future ones with a quality BCG? Is the varminter using an American Spirit Arms BCG or just a DPMS with the ASA notch in it?
