The Venerable, but not forgotten 350 Remington Magnum!

I have a model 7 KS custom that shoots the 225 accubonds well. If you clip the white tips off you can fit them in the factory mag.
Hey Slimbo,

Thanks for that idea, however the purpose for me to utilize a polymer tip bullet is to keep that tip in place.....:)

I totally understand your theory and why you would do this. But it defeats the whole program of wanted to use a Tipped TSX bullet or a tipped Accubond bullet. Unfortunately Hornady doesn't make a 35 caliber 358" copper solid, only the 200 grain FTX bullet. I wanted to try a Hornady CX formally GMX, or a Barnes TTSX copper bullet.

I too am currently looking for a Remington Model Seven in a 350 Rem Mag. Your KS Custom Model 7 sounds sweet!.....:)

I appreciate the idea, but this is not what I was thinking. I may just have to try the 200 grain Barnes TTSX and make it work. My concern is compressing the powder too hard if I have to seat the bullet so deep to a COL of 2.825". I did see Barnes makes a 180 TTSX bullet as well, the length of this bullet is 1.193" where as the 200 grain TTSX bullet is 1.296". The difference is only ten thousands of an inch.

I was hoping someone here on Gunnutz might be using this 200 grain TTSX Barnes bullet. Maybe it's not even possible?.....

Thanks for your post!.....:)

Thanks Quarterman!...;)

If you feel comfortable in letting us know what platform you own, please share with us!......:)

IMR 4320 is the powder I will start with, however I only have one pound and it has been discontinued as far as I know. I wonder if Varget would be a close substitute for the IMR 4320?

Anyone know?.....:)
This is a model 673. Pretty happy with it. Im down to my last pound of 4320 now, so Ill be trying something new in the near future.

I love the Remington Model 673, for those that do not know the 673 stands for: 6 was due to the model 600 and 660, 7 was used to describe the Model 7 action, and 3 stood for 2003 when the rifle came out.....:)

My Rem 673 in 350 was one of my favorite 350 magnum rifles, the laminate stock, the retro metal vented rib, along with the model seven action was epic for me. The 22" medium contour barrel was also nice, especially with the rifle sights and that front shark fin sight on the already mentioned vented rib. Oddly enough folks either hated this new rifle, or loved it like me.

However selling it in 2007 was a low time in my life, I loved that gun!.....:( LOL ;)

The IMR 4320 powder can be replaced with TAC, IMR 4198, Varget, IMR 3031, H380, VIGHT N-140, IMR 4064, WIN 760, and Accurate 2520. I have not looked on the burn rate chart to see which powder is the closet to the IMR 4320 though.

I'm assuming some investigating will be in order for us who used to like the IMR 4320 powder....:)

T Hog I’ve owned 2 Rems in 350RM. - one was a Very NICE M700 Classic which I loaded for and shot but didn’ really take to it 🤷‍♂️ Sold to a friend in Sask for bears and moose 👍
The other was a M600 Laminate I never did anything with and Sold to as friend in Northern Alberta for Bears 👍
Hate the Ribs !

That’s my 350 life 😊

I also preferred 4320 back in the good old days. Since it is discontinued, I'd think about Win 748 now a days. The 250gr bullets are best in the 350, although you sure don't have any trouble figuring out if it went off when using the heavy pills. Round nosed bullets were my preference also, to maximise COL potential. Run the #'s, RN hang with the pointy/slippery's for the first 200 yards. I definitely would not prioritise developing a load on the TTSX. Copper monoliths are longer than lead to begin with and the plastic point technology is counter productive in the 350, as it gains BC at the expense of bullet length (powder capacity @ 2.8") that can't really be exploited until beyond 250 yards. With current offerings, I'd go 748 driving a 250gr Speer.

PS: Bat119. Exquisite, s8xy BOOMER done just right!!!

I would use caution with IMR4198, Barnes lists it in their manual. I tried it when I first got my rifle. I started with the starting load and it locked the bolt shut. Had to tap the bolt handle open with a wooden mallet. I will probably try IMR 4064 since I have a couple pounds left.

Thanks Jim,

I thought you might have been a 350 guy as well.....:)(y)

It's funny you should say that about the vented ribs. Folks either dislike them or love them! I happen to love them!.....:):ROFLMAO:

I don't suppose you have any brass, bullets, or ammo kicking around still?

I was using imr 4320, maximum load as listed in the hornady loading manual for a 200gr interlock

Kicked like a ####9ng beast but shot excellent in my remington 600
Thanks C96 1897:,

Yes I figured these 600's might be a spanker!....:)

How was the accuracy for you with those Hornady bullets?

Thank you Wiserfool for joining the thread and giving such good information!....:)

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree with those Barnes 200 grain TTSX. They just look so s@xy!...:):love::ROFLMAO:

Oddly enough when I started loading 48 years ago, all I ever used was Speer bullets. I still like them today!.....:)

Speer does make a good bullet!....:)

And yes that sweet looking little 350 Rem Mag that Bat119 sold was very cool indeed!....:)

Thanks again for your thoughts, it was good speaking with you again my new friend!.....:)(y)

Thank you Quarterman, I'm going to start with the remaining IMR 4320 I have left. Then I can look at the Win748 or TAC maybe?

Your thoughts?.....:)

Sorry No but I do know where there might be some to be sold I will ask for you 👍

There is a guy on Gun p0st that is offering to form 350 brass from belted magnum brass

Thank you!....:)

I have thought about going this route as well....:)

Redding makes a form & trim die for this purpose. Redding part #83266, it's approximately $80.00 CDN.

My only concern is neck turning, some say the 7mm Remington Magnum Brass works the best for little neck turning, however I've never had to turn any necks in 48 years. LOL....:)

And I'm hoping not to start.....:)

Others say, neck turning is not necessary for the most part. I'm watching several videos on this process now....:)

Our gun show is coming up April 11th and 12th here in Cranbrook, I'm hoping to find some brass or maybe even ammunition there!

Thanks for the information C96!.....:)

So I've watched several videos now on making 350 Remington Magnum brass from both the 7mm Remington Magnum brass and the 338 Winchester Magnum brass. Others have used the 300 Winchester Magnum brass as well.

Some state that neck turning or reaming is an absolute must, while a few get away with no neck turning.

I totally understand the concept, and I get the fact that all 350 Magnum chambers will be slightly different in tolerances.

However it looks like a rabbit hole I do not want to partake in.

What say you guys?....:)

No thanks!...:):ROFLMAO:

My son just bought me two boxes of factory 350 Remington Magnum ammo at the Chilliwack Gun Show. I'm certain he will find more!....:)

I will be stock-piling 350 stuff moving forward!.....:)

If one looks hard enough, it can be found.....:)
