I ordered a Savage mod 12 fv with a heavy barrel, almost 3 months ago from a local dealer. They told me they were told it should be here by the end of May so I was waiting with antisipation. I got a call near the end of May telling me it wouldn't be made till the end of August so it would be mid Sept. before it made it to me.
AAAAARRRRRGGGGG the wait is killing me! But on the plus side I guess I can say I have a really new .223!!! It's not even a custom build...it is an out of the box shooter.
So what is the longest you have waited for a gun to be built? Custom or Out of box

i waited 6 months for a Savage 12 HB, called the seller and he didnt have a clear answer to when I would have my rifle....cancelled the order and had my deposit returned to me.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm waiting for a model 12 F-class. I've waited about 3 months now and I was told only one month. Now I'm thinking about getting my down payment back.

Last custom build took about 1 month after I gathered all the bits I wanted. Took two week alone just to get the barrel fitted and chambered, but even gunsmiths need a holiday once in a while.

From what I've been able to gather, Savage is totally constipated these days, as in everything is backed up. My guess is that they made some Model changes
and additions, but didn't properly anticipate the markets response for their products. As a result, I too am impatiently waiting for my new "wunder-kin"
to arrive.:( Almost 16 weeks now.

yeah , savage must have eaten to much gluten or somthing with no fiber..

im on month 3 for my lrpv

and month like... oh hell i dunno any more for my 110ba 338lm

and its gonna be about 3 months till i see my schmidt and bender

In prep for the exciting day I even loaded up a variety of different loads to try out. Now every time I walk passed my reloading bench they mock me..."HA HA HA HAAAAA HA you can't shoot me cause you don't have your gun yet!!!" Does this happen to any one else???

Nope it doesn't happen to me because I never load ammo for a rifle I don't have. I need the rifle in my hand so I can determine what length to seat the bullets. I usually start around .020 back from the lands for hunting rounds then go from there.
I have been waiting since the end of December for a custom barrel and stock to come! So from the waiting game point of view I sure know how you feel!!

8 weeks ago, I ordered a new Mark II TR....It's only a .22 cal mind you...but it's STILL a Savage....paid for too. :(....my dealer said the same thing...only the AXIS stuff comin in so far...everything's on backorder!...He said Ellwood was callin him lookin for LRPV's....much easier to find titanium bullets !!!

Not the same but I paid for a barrel in January and I have no idea when it will get here.

It's good to know that I am not the only one willing to wait but unsettling to know that things are so backed up that there are this many of us!

The reality is that vendors have absolutely no control over delivery times, yet they are the ones to take it on the chin when things take too long. We have had customers stuck waiting for a YEAR to get barrels that were estimated at 16 weeks. Fortunately, this is not the rule.

Canada is a drop-in-the-bucket market, and even distributors are not given straight-goods info on delivery times. If you think I enjoy hearing from people who are pissed off about the delivery time of their order, you would be sadly mistaken. I have wanted to throw in the towel more than once.

I hate waiting as much or more than anyone else, but cut your vendor some slack. I guarantee it is not their fault, nor their conspired intent to delay delivery.

wait times

Wow..those wait times are rediculous!! Does it always take so long, or is it just certain companys ? Might as well order from China LOL. This would be Unecxeptable for me, nor would I tolerate it. The SUMMER and hunting season would be gone...and still no gun  And then have to wait till next hunting season ??? You would think that time would be of the escence..no? I use to repair motorcycles for customers and "waiting for parts" was NOT an option. Down time- was serious bussines ! I only dealt with companys that could get the parts in under 2 weeks.
I guess if a person is "special ordering" sommthing, you can expect a long wait. I suppose a person should order in the DEAD of the WINTER if these wait times are normal.???

Ha! That's what I did bought a rifle last fall thinking that it should at least make on the first comp by May. Now the provincial is almost here and still no rifle to sight in. Btw this rifle is used.

Not pointing fingers but sometimes it would be nice to tell the customer worst case scenario time line and best case scenario. If the customer know that ahead of time, then order at your discretion. Now if somebody told me the rifle would be here June or even later, I would have build one. Instead I was told it should be here in couple of months so I bought the rifle.

Demand far outstrips supply - nice to see Savage having that 'problem'.

A recent report suggests that Savage is the largest supplier of bolt action rifles in the world with annual sales well over 300,000 units :)

And the demand keeps growing....
