The Walther P88: Initial thoughts and observations

If you are taking predictions, I see a Benelli B-76 in your future.

Well isn't that funny. I never heard of the Benelli B76 until yesterday, when I was flipping through the June 1979 issue of American Rifleman, and found the Dope Bag writeup on the piece. Today I open up CGN and here's a thread that mentions it. How did I go 40 years not hearing of it and now two separate mentions in two days?

Great shooting Master G, particularly for an old guy ;-)
Really liking that P88, and really lamenting the lack of 12-6...

Well they say it comes in 3's so maybe tomorrow you'll see a used one for a great price at the LGS

Thanks for the comments, guys. I did expect tot like the pistol, and I'd heard of its accuracy potential but I was really surprised how easy it is to shoot accurately. It's certainly becoming one of my favourites!

Great review and photos! A good looking pistol for sure!

I am a little surprised at Walther for not grinding and dressing the Tig weld; it seems out of character for them.

Sweet shooting Master-G. Glad to see what you could do with your new to you P88, they are indeed awesomely engineered pistols and a joy to shoot/own. It sure brings back good memories, kinda fell sad about selling these some years ago.

Don't want to mess this thread up but I've posted a thread on my Benelli B76A over a year ago right here if you want some more info on this particular pistol:

Holy grip angle Batman:p Still won’t mind trying one though:)

It sure looks kinda weird but it blends naturally with the design of the pistol. It’s also surprisingly ergonomic and since it’s a single stack it’s pretty thin and points naturally à la Luger/Glock with a raked 22 degrees grip angle.
