The "What Have You Reloaded Today" thread

I loaded 100 new RIO low base shot shells with 12 pellets of my cast .31 caliber buffered buckshot. I finished them off with a roll crimp, using a drill press. They look like they just came off a factory assembly line.

No kidding? I’ll have to keep track of that. I have about 100 8x57 that need to be opened up. And a bunch of 9.3x57 virgin Norma brass I don’t plan on loading lmao. 30 I think.. Too cheap would sell them for the right price lol. I’m a cheap arse and would rather do the work mysef to open up
‘06 or 8x57 brass haha
I found reformed 30-06 cases actually fit my chamber better, and shot more accurately to boot. - dan

348Winchester for fall bear hunting and deep timber moose.
39 Hornady 200gr FNSP/H4831sc, my standard load, sub 2" 3 shot groups at 100yds, exceptional for a 71.

Why 39? I bought at some point 39 new WW 348brass as part of a larger component purchase. the bullets were bought 10 years ago.

I also loaded 20rds of 348Winchester with 200gr BarnesX bullets. Just seeing them will convince most critters to just keel over and die. I shot a mid sized Island black bear (300lbs) at 75 yds and that is just what he did.

In Ken Water's favourite Loads book (1978) he recommended Winchester 71 shooters buy components whenever they come across them. When I got my first 71 in 1990 I heeded that advice, luckily some components were still available.

I had a large pick-up day at the range yesterday. That combined with the 300 rounds that I shot, meant a total of 521 pieces of brass needing to be processed. The calibers were; .38spl, 357mag, .45 Colt, .270win, .303brit, 7prc, and 6.5cm.

So to begin with, I de-capped all of them and into the wet tumbler they went.

My newish tumbler has the capacity to do two drums at once. I’ve never tried this with liquid, pins, and brass before. I’ve only ever had one drum on the rollers. But after some levelling, everything worked perfectly.

Here’s the unit in action…

Then the rather large chore of separating and getting the cases onto the drying trays. It starts with the separation of the cases from the pins and then into clean water. This is so the citric acid does not continue to work on the brass.

And finally, caliber separation and onto the drying trays for a few hours.

And then..ready for the presses.

During the great Covid 19 .410 famine a buddy gave me a box of paper hulled 12 guage to cannibalize to load some .410 shells as he dosen't own a 12 guage and I was out of birdshot. Not knowing what to do with the 12 guage shells I loaded some bear deterrent rounds with plastic paintballs as black bears are wandering pretty good this year.20240706_153457.jpg

Got about 100 of them. The 3 inch shells are good for double balls
