I have a chance to play with the Winchester wild cat at the range...WOW!, one hole @50 bench!...so I went to pick up few of them...2 for me, 1 for mine kid...and the rest...just for the liberals (love to piss them off)LOL. Anyways, the bolt is chrome plated, precision hammer forged heavy barrel with target crowned, cocking indicator, two stage external adjustable trigger pull, and most important is the wild cat is accurate for the price I paid. Prices of the rifle is between$280-$380 depends of location.
This weekend, i am comparing apple to oranges at the range. I am putting the wild cat to the test...wild cat vs savage, wild cat vs CZ, wild cat vs weatherby etc...I will try to keep it fair ( scope size/ ammo brand). bolt action 22LR.
I will post all results when done.

The best scope rings to use on the wild cat 22(3/8" dovetail) should be the utility rings from B-square $25+tax( the rings will not interfere with the bolt action). It took me almost one full day to found it out! lol...Thank for B-square rings!...it was WC friendly.
I mounted and bore-sighted the WC with the Leupold vari-x II 2-7x36mm target-dot, and will against the savage mark2 heavy,free flow barrel with , accu-trigger, Leupold VXIII 6-20x40mm target-dot (I will set both scope at 7 power) for the test.

After I got off the phone last week with the people @ Winchester they said that they are no longer going to be carring this line of rifles. :(
The good news is we already got our cheap tack driver's.
Also is any one wants to mount a weaver based scope the Weaver Mount #15 is what you need. Just simply unscrew the miny flat head's on the top of the reciever and drop & screw this mount right back on. Also you got to love that little trigger adjustment screw that comes with your rifle. Damm it is so easy now that a trigger job litteraly takes second's.

YES, after I bore-sighted the scope (Leupold vari-X II 3-7x32mm, target-dot) I took it to the range for final tuning....and the result...IT IS A SHOOTER!(I am very happy with the result)...at 25yds, 5 shot@ one hole group...and @ 50yds...5 shot group...you are looking at same holes and 1/2 MOA or under using Remington 40g (the wc do not like the 36g)...the rest I was using was just a send bag...more range report will follow.

interesting these rifles are made in russia with a winchester stamp on it very well priced indeed i wonder if they will catch on like CZ did and soon winchester will hike up the price. just curiouse does anyone shoot the zastava 22lr guns ? i believe remington is marketing them under the model 5 or something they look like a nice rifle at a low price too. good on you for getting a few of them i lucked out as well i bought 2 cz452's when they were still 400 dollars now there over 500 and shoot as well as my overpriced anchutz

Nope contacted Winchester some time ago & they told me that they currently no-longer carry this product. Just glad I got mine when I did.
 
I got mine from Lebaron in Montreal for about $328 taxed and delivered. They still show on their website as a special.

absolutly its a great gun and exceptionatatly accurate for the price. i picked mine up last year but didnt shoot it that much. the only thing i didnt like about it is that it felt small. I bought the cz 452 and i find it awesome and i like the action much better. It closes the action just by jerking it forward a bit.Only have to push the bolt handle down and trigger kits are very cheap for the cz too. slick.
 
I am trying to resist the urge to purchase another rimfire and you folks are not helping me!!

So do you have the bull barrel model or the regular weight barrel? Is there a significant difference in accuracy from one to the other?

Reason I am asking is I have a number of bull barrels already, so would prefer the regular. But accuracy is important to me.

Any idea whole sells the regular Wildcat. Thanks for any info.
 
I have the HB model already, But I wanted a sporter barrel model because it was 4.5 lbs compared to 5.5 lbs....I looked around for a regular barrel wildcat and didn't have much luck. I remember when bass pro got some they were 199 last year and I was gonna buy one and I didn't. Kickin myself now!
 
Typical winchester, find something good and quit selling it or cheapen it beyond beleif. Happened to too many powders, AA target loads, now wildcat 22. To the beancounters at winchester, wonder why ya went bankrupt?
 
Just bought a Wildcat HB today.I will like to mount regular rings in Weaver bases.
I read that Weaver #15 are the ones to get.

Anyone have some for sale?Please PM me.FOUND SOME

The advantages to the bull barrel is that the trigger is adjustible and that there is an extra bipod QD connection at the top of the stock. The regular one does not come drill and tapped for a scope mount but does have iron sight's.
Also here is the difference in wieght;
Target Model:
Weight: 6 lb. 8 oz.
Sporter Model;
Weight: 4 lbs 8 oz.
 


I originally wanted to get the Target Wildcat, but since nobody had stock at the time (I had just got my PAL) I decided to purchase the sporter model. I added a harris bi pod, see through weaver scope rings, and a Leupold VX-1 3-9x40mm. With the knowledge that they will be discontinued a target model is now in my future!:D
