I caught an episode of The Wild Gourmets the other night and thought I would spread the word here.

Basically the idea for the show is a chef and an "adventurer" team up and head to the British countryside to hunt, catch and forage what they can for daily meals. :)

Not only are they making some great looking food (squirrel à la Peking duck anyone?) but they consistently send the message that hunting is the most human and healthy way to harvest and prepare meat.

This is the best thing I have seen come out of the U.K. in quite some time.

Next episode airs Friday, February 27 9:30 PM EST

Yeah, I've seen a bunch of them, along with the Wild Chef. Both decent shows, but avid sportsmen they aint. They shot like 5 hens and 1 rooster on the pheasent hunt, and the girl can't blow a duck call for the life of her. But it's food network, and it's a pretty good watch still.

They are estate pheasants there and are put out for the purpose of shooting. They don't expect them to live to breed.

But I'll agree with the "avid" part. He seems into it all but she is quite squeamish. I laughed my ass off at the episode where she was trying to clean some pigeons they had shot.

The pathetic attempt at duck hunting was hilarious to say the least.

In the episode where they shoot the red deer hind, he seems to hit way forward on the deer but they portray it as a perfect heart shot (will PVR it and slo mo next time it's on).

Still. They are promoting hunting as being very humane and environmentally friendly. Good for them. I like the show overall.

WILD CHEF bugs me since he is never cooking anything that actually looks good. I'll take my moose shanks without the hooves attached thanks. Also I don't have access to or the ability to afford 30lb lumps of Foie Gras, the main ingredient in a lot of his dishes.

LOL, no, I can't afford that either, nor do we bring in a case of wine to cook with while hunting. It's the only "hunting" show my wife watches, so I can't complain.

the only bad thing i have to say about the wild chef is i can't stand how every "r" in a word is pronounced "w" by her drives me INSANE!!!

Other than that its a great show.
