The Winchester Model 1200

That pad looks like an after market grind to fit. If done properly, they are finished better than most factory gun pads in this category.

A pachmayr grind to fit after looking at the picture..

Nice gun, enjoy shooting it.

They are ok guns considering the number sold they held up ok
As for the us army I personally know fellows that were in the army and would throw them away as soon as they found a Ithaca 37 or a Wingmaster .
Also have done Winchester and Remington warranty for 12 years plus my view is much different I have replaced so many throats , trigger assembly and extractors on them it became old fast all that being said as a field gun that does not shoot 1000’s of rounds they are ok I have had to replace throats on guns that were nib

^^ absolutely more than ok. My own favorite (surprisingly) has become a model 1300xtr with a rifled barrel. Suprising because I own some "much better" shotguns...

Gorgeous find and I'd be happy to own it, factory or not.

My first decent shotgun was an old Winchester 1300 ?Black Shadow?. Economy model for sure, but I was pretty proud of it and shot a lot of animals with it--anything that moved in NB, except moose. Deer, bears, ducks, partridge, etc.... It's been passed around various family members ever since. Everyone who gets their hands on it finds it's a pretty decent, quick-shooting, quick-handling gun for the weekend warrior types.

I'd love to have another that was set up with the upland stock and a shorter barrel with IC choke. Would be deadly for black duck busting in the creeks.
