Hi all. This is more of my tale of warning for those using the search feature on the Ellwood site. First, let me say I've made several purchases from Ellwood Epps and their fast processing, customer service and communication have always been great. I have no doubt I will buy from them again.
With that said, careful what you search for as you may be purchasing something more expensive than what you really need. Hard to avoid with so many items in stock, but oh well.
I have a 20 gauge Winchester SXP with the rifled deer barrel I've loved using in deer season. This spring when turkey season came around, I thought y'know what, I wouldn't mind putting a short threaded barrel on this SXP since it's been so good to me and take it for turkey as well. I searched the Ellwood site, and lucky for me under the "SXP" results was a 20 gauge, 24" threaded barrel:

But oof... almost $300 for a barrel? I could find a whole used SXP for maybe just a bit more, and save on some tax while I'm at it... But, lo and behold after searching for just a used barrel and considering if I bought an SXP then I really wouldn't need two receivers and I'd end up just trying to sell a shotgun without a barrel, most likely to no luck for an SXP... so I decided to spend the money. But, it's only the barrel, I'll need a turkey choke and sights to go with it. So I ordered some TruGlo sites and a Carlson turkey choke from Ellwood as well. All in all, with tax, I was probably in for between $400 - $450 including the shipping. Hindsight is 20/20, definitely should have just bought the used SXP at that point. But oh well.
Unfortunately I didn't get a turkey, but I've had tag soup before. What really got to me was then randomly just checking out the Ellwood selection again... I see this:

A 24" SXP turkey barrel, brand new, with sights and choke, for only $249?!? Where was this when I was looking??? Ah, here's the rub! It's labelled as "Super X Pump" and not SXP! Nowhere in my searches for "SXP" did it show up on the site. Well, shoot!
The moral of the story is - watch your search capabilities, cross your Ts and dot your Is when searching, include all possible options, and don't be a chump that overspends like me!
