The XCR, SIG, AR-180B, SL8 debate... let's see some actual groups

I can reconfirm the SL8 story and it is very similar to my XCR. Both rifles shoot well - the SL8 with 75g sierra BTHP match moly...blablablbalbalb shoot a bit better (maybe it's the scope). sub 1inch no problem. the XCR, havn't tried the heavier bullets but can get 1"ish out of it no problem with handload 55's.

100 yard groups are informative. However, will the rifles that print excellent 100 yard groups maintain that accuracy to 200, 300, 400...? The ability to maintain a specific MOA or sub-MOA grouping at distance is the only indicator that said rifle truly is accurate. 100 yard groups are a good starting point, but are hardly definitive in their results.

In theory yes.

In reality it largely depends upon the wind and the bullets BC. A 52 smk will shoot great at 100 yards, it may even beat the heavier bullets at that range.

Go out to 300+ yards and your 52 smk wil drift. A 69 or 77 smk will fly much straighter at these distances.

Feelings aren't always "accurate":

SL8, handloads, 75gr Hornady's off a bench with a nightforce scope on a windless day. These are obviously the best targets I ever did with it (can't shoot like that all day), but still pretty good.

100 yards. Don't think I could do it again - it routinely grouped around .4".

Totally OT but I have a buddy who is crazy about his groupings when we go to the range and sometimes I put a round on his paper to mess with him.

Its funny, especially when you do it with a 1911 @ 100m.

Test target at 300meters that my classic green came with. I don't think any of the other rifles comes with a test target. Maybe the SL8?
