The "Your Opinion On The Tikka T3" Thread to (hopefully) End All Tikka T3 Threads

I love mine - My Remington Varmint Synthetic heavy barrel 308 was free floated. bedded and also had a trigger job by a professional gunsmith and shot very well and I used it in precision rifle competitions many times. The Tikka T3 LSS shoots just as well (no better but no worse) but the kicker is that it weighs about 5 lbs less. I sold the Remington.

I've owned 3 T3s and they all shot under 1" with cheap factory ammo. The only issue I found with them is the mag length on the .300WM is not long enough to play with bullet seating depth too much. Best thing to do is get one and decide for yourself if you like it. If you don't, they sell quick in the EE.

all of my guns shoot under 1", though I wouldn't know about factory ammo, I shoot handloads exclusively. Interestingly, both of my Tikka's are extremely picky shooters with handloads, though when they're fed a load they agree with there's certainly no mistaking it

Out of the box my t-3 270 hunter benched about as well as any rifle I have ever owned, but a variety of factory loads and hand loads. I had a few small problems with it, somthing that could have happened with any rifle but I was not impressed with the after sale service that I got from Stoeger Canada. Every time I looked at it, I was bugged as to why it cost as much as it did. I thought it was a good $500.00 rifle but not worth the near $800.00 price tag.
I can not complain about the accuracy!

Okay, I'll venture out and say it, I don't own a Tikka, never have and never will! Just the look of them upsets my senses, guns should be well made of steel and walnut. They should be accurate or can be made to be accurate...despite what most say..the only reason for the plastic on the Tikka is to save the manufacturers money. Walnut is getting harder to get, esp. in Europe, so they use hollow plastic. While I am not a fan of any bolt actions, for the testing I/we do, we use Rem. 700s or at least 700 actions(usually short) with custom barrels.

I like the look of a nice wood stock, but don't like to use them because I'm picky about scratches and dents in wood stocks.

Went through choosing between a new t3 deluxe or an used m558 deluxe in
.308 over Christmas. Went with the M558 better wood, comes with a great factory recoil pad, proven gun. The t-3 is not for everyone.
