their not coyote their deer

Went out this morning scouting for deer...I figure I would bring my .223 and a rabbit distress call, and try to call some coyote while I was out....Anyway after about 2 hrs or so walking bush line and scouting looking for deer tracks etc...., I decide its time for some coyote calling, ( I figure if I am lucky, coyote/fox will show itself, it not, no big deal I got my scouting done for the day).. ..so I start calling and after about 2 minutes or so I see 2 animals running down toward my direction, my first thought was coyote but no 2 deer from about 7-800 meters come right into my set up..... Doe and fawn, checking me out at about 60 yds... I reach for my camera and snapped the picture... they probably would of come closer but I dropped the camera and was moving around way to much when I reached to pick up the camera...

I have had deer come in when I was calling coyotes on a few occasions. Lots of crows and magpies too... even the odd coyote

Cool...I saw the same thing on that "predator quest" show. A big herd of mule-deer came into his set a couple of times to check out the noise.

Thats really cool, to have deer come to rabbit in distress. I wonder if the deer thought it was a young fawn in distress. they make odd sounds.

Usually we get a boatload of cattle that come to us when we are calling coyotes. They make good cover and at the places we shoot the cattle are used to the shooting, its better for them to be near us then infront of us.

rabbit distress can sound a lot like fawn in distress. I always call in deer before coyotes. Its actually a good thing I find. A coyote runs out, sees a deer standing there and hears a fawn in distress. Figures the deer is in trouble and they will bolt in not trying to circle downwind as much. Thats my opinion though. It sure pisses deer off when they hear that sound, I think it stresses them out a bit because i've had them leave, then come back about a minute later running around franticly. Probably thought it was their baby in trouble.

i can blow a crow call in such a way as to make every deer in the hood come a'runnin- done it more than once too
