Hey all,

Got my hands on the Stag 3G rifle. Have not had much of a chance to run it. More popped some rounds off to sight in. Noticed right off the bat that the comp that comes with that rifle by default is a little TOO effectice in the sense that the rifle actually recoils down.

So, my question is. Using a 18"barr, with a full length gas system. What brake should I use to keep the barr as flat as possible during follow up shots?

I would also rather not switch to some massive brake that would blow out the ear drums of the guys beside me during a slowfire session. I am thinking the battlecomp? Anyone tried this versus the 3G one?

Thoughts?

Choosing a brake is a personal choice as each one reacts differently in the hands of each shooter.

I have been using the JP/Cooley brake for a while and I like it.
SJC Titan is a very popular one in the 3gun world.
The Triangle Shooting Sports brake is another.

None of these will be quiet and the guy next to you will hate you.
But as you said, them's the brakes.
You can't have it all. If you want an effective brake, it will be loud.

'Way to brake it down Paul...

Depending on which version of 3 gun/multigun you are looking at, some hav e restrictions on diameter or length or both depending on the division.

I only recall IPSC rifle having the restriction, but all the brakes mentioned above fit the 1"x3" criteria.

I was just hoping that with a long barrel and a long gas system causing very limited muzzle flip..... that I would get away with using a less effective brake and thus a lil less obnoxious. VS a large 3 baffle brake.

I guess the general concensus is that you need an obnoxious one if you want to build a gun that shoots like a laser beam?

Also consider if you have to get into a rollover prone type position, how much debris you can blast off the ground at the shooting position with big side ports. Been there done that;-)

Funny, shot off a berm last service rifle shoot, kicked up soooo much dirt on the sides, I could hear it raining down on the guys beside me and the muffled F*** O** under thier breath. (Electronic muffs)

Even more fun when it is mud with a thin layer of ice and you can hear your buddy giggling as he shoots because it is hitting the RO.

If there is anyone that could do it, it would be him.

I dunno...

'Could be wrong, but I wouldn't be completely surprized if Jerry's Garand has been worked on and his ammo isn't off the shelf factory or "surplus" 30-06.

'Just sayin'... That there old war horse (the rifle... Not Jerry) seems to have less kick than any 30-06 I've ever seen shot
