There hear at last CNC milled mag followers for many shotguns

A Hi-Viz follower is a good idea for several reasons; foremost is that it more easily allows you to visually and physically confirm the status of the mag tube (loaded or empty), the knob on the follower allows you to physically feel it. Makes the "Peek and Poke' much easier and more certain.

The older Remington followers are thin black plastic and I have seen some in pretty bad shape in several older guns, think i have seen one crack IIRC. In dirty mag tubes I have seen them hang up. These new ones look thicker and stronger and the material is more 'slippery' than the plastic ones as I understand.

Cheers

very well said, this covers most of the reason why we made these.
Just ask anyone thats got a norinco HP9-1 about how long there mag followers lasts!!!

ok, this is a little scary. I've taught 12yr olds to make safe tube fed shotguns with standard followers. how does it get any easier :runaway:

Peek & poke? if you have trouble distinguishing between a peice of smooth plastic and a shiny metal surface & 209 primer maybe you need your eyes and fingers checked?

so far the hanging up on extended mag seams is the best (and only plausable) reason I've see for an aftermarket follower. (besides severe mallninja-itus and LCF)

I've got calloused fingers and can't always feel the difference...usually I can see the difference because I tend to shoot in good light but I guess if I had to check in less then ideal light or at night I'd prefer a bright color and a tactile indicator.

It's not a necessity but it makes things a little easier and a little safer.
Even with all the regular safety checks (visually and physically checking) people can and do make mistakes for a whole bunch of different reasons, especially in the field and/or under stress. The bit of extra assurance I get seeing the bright follower in low light or after a day of shiiity field conditions is worth a few bucks to me.
