There's a ##### on my wall.

Wifes are a funny lot, for myself and my guy friends I have notice they get funny about time away when

1. Money it tight.
2. New baby(s our first were twins) or lots of young kids
3. She is a work, hockey, fishing, golf etc widow already
4. You piss and moan when she wants to get out.

Life and marrage if about balance and comprimise, and if she does not like you shooting deer because they are too cute, shoot moose they are ugly :lol:
 
My wife has the Cow moose tag this year so she has to come hunting.

She also comes out to the trap shooting club on occasion, helped me set up my bear bait and tree stand, loves to fish and lets me go hunting and fishing whenever I want. So I really don't know what you guys are talking about - :wink:

Good looks, smarts and likes to hunt, can't get a much better wife than that. Going on ten years now and it gets better every year. :D

No, the account was not screwed up, the situation changed, as stated several times already. And I brought it to the forum to discuss with people who are able to tolerate some ambiguity, which others have. I grant you if black and white thinking is your bag, then any dissagreement means that the other person is just bad. Also, its not true that my wife convinced me not to go deer hunting, if she did that I would't have posted about it. Have you ever done something or not done something because it was important to someone else? If so you may still recall a sense of dissapointment. As for "people bashing me", again, it seems to me that people with a little more experience have expressed at least some understanding of my situation. Any 14 year old can contribute an "if she doesn't let you go hunting then get divorced" type comment.

I have been with women that don't like it when I hunt but the present squeeze of 14 years does not hunt but she helps me skin out game and sets up the grinder and makes room in the freezer for new steaks and burgers. She has come a long way from crying when I bagged a chicken to cutting up deer and moose meat. Its just as bad of men to stop their women from doing their thing as the other way around when its hunting season, get used to it or find someone who will be with you at the mall or in the rain cutting up game. :D

Well if you bring something personal to a public forum you will have all sorts of people with different views interpreting what you wrote and answering accordingly.
Just because people do not share your views, that doesnt make them 14 year olds.

Personally I support and try to nurish any endevours that my wife partakes in and she does like-wise for me. Yes there is room for comparmise. But to outright ban you from an activity is, well, selfish. My wife is a vegitarian, still she puts no conditions on my hunting.

Anyway. As long as your happy, what others say doesn't/shouldn't matter!

I might dump a gf if she didn't like my lifestyle, but for god's sake - how seriously do you guys take your marriage vows? Honestly.

Marriage is about being partners and respecting people's thoughts and opinons. Sometimes you gotta pick your fights. Sometimes you have to take the time and energy to let someone get COMFORTABLE about something you want to do.

My GF was a hippie raised anti gun vegitarian when i met her.

It's been about 5 years - she's taking her non-restricted monday after next. No foolin :) But it took her a few months to understand why hunting and shooting was important to me, that didn't happen overnight.

Itsacookbook - your wife was against it, she listened to how you feel, she came around and changed her mind when she realized it was important to you. THAT'S a keeper.

The rest of you guys -if all you want is a wife that says 'yes' every time you open your mouths, i'd recommend asian mail order :mrgreen: Personally I HATE women with no spine or spirit. But that's just me.

I once had a girlfriend that was a vegitarian. I eat meat like it is going out of style. She would give me #### for it some times. After a year of watching me eat meat everyday she decided that she was going to eat meat too. One minute it was wrong and the next she was doing it too :roll:

cdngunner - gotcha "skewed". I can appreciate your resistance to the banning of an activity, and if I understand you correctly it hits me the same way. Its just a question of what to do about it. Now take onions for instance. No matter how much she asks me not to eat them, I don't seem to really hear what she's saying. On the other hand if she really felt that my shooting a deer was absolutley intolerable no matter what, I wouldn't do it - but then I don't identify myself as a big game hunter. I've never gone, its just something I was invited to do. Thats my room for compromise, although in this case I didn't have to. Yeah, in retrospect, I admit my posting was a little skewed mainly for the sake of humour in this now belaboured point. Anyhow, glad to hear that compromise is not foeign to you either. Even Republic does not seem totally void of belief in growth within relationships, ie he was wth a vegetarian girlfriend :!: I think, Republic, that might have made you a communist at some places and times. And I didn't mean that I think that everyone who dissagrees with me is 14 but some comments seem kind of concrete, like you might hear from a teenager.
 
Well, she's probably harbouring the belief that you won't like it. So, when you get back, you must tell her that you loved every second of it, it was fantastic and so on.

This thread is still going? :) No one but itsacookbook knows what his wife is like. She may have genuine concerns for her husband and may worry about him not to be a ##### but because MAYBE(this may sound crazy) she loves him.
Who knows? Itsacookbook may have a hatchet sticking out of his head or an unborn fetus that cant be removed. Bump that fetus and well who knows what could happen.
