There's something about an SKS....

What is it about the SKS that makes it feel so good to own? It's not the accuracy, or the high value. But there's something there, something intangible that makes you want one. Or 5. It just feels so damn good to have them in the house!

I also love the history of them especially the social history surrounding the times when they were invented and produced .
I'm a sucker for rich social context and rich wood .
 
To me, it's like owning a classic car/truck. They just oooooze with character, and history. They are so simplistic, solid and reliable... I think we have a soft spot for them, because it is next to near impossible to find those qualities in something manufactured today...

I love opening my safe, and getting that subtle whiff of cosmoline...
