I bought one of these so called ThermaCELL bug repellents today. If it works I'll surely need it bear hunting this spring.

http://store.yahoo.com/thermacell/olgrmore.html

"As thousands of satisfied customers know, ThermaCELL is the most effective area repellent on the market, repelling up to 98% of mosquitoes, black flies and no-see-ums over a 15 x 15 ft area. Pocket-sized, portable and with not open flame, ThermaCELL goes everywhere – providing a mosquito-free zone around a deck, campsite, turkey blind, tree stand or small boat."

if they said it, it's got to work flawlessly ....right:rolleyes:

...anybody else gonna try one out?

a lot of americans swear by them!!!!

one evaluation

This little item is great for anyone who wants to enjoy being outdoors without being bled dry by mosquitoes. It ain't cheap, but it does what it claims, and when you're surrounded by a cloud of skeeters that threaten your very existence, it's worth its weight in gold.

my dad has one and they are worth every penny. sit it down beside you and in 5-10 minutes all the bugs are gone. flies, mosquitos, everything. not sure how well it works when its really windy out. but then again when its really windy the bugs arent out anyways.

id say 1 unit covers a 10x10 area.

We had them in the Old World for many years. Used them mainly indoors - I know it says NO on the package, but never had any complaints.
The outdoor use was limited to few meters and not a good solution in light/changing winds. The hard winds blow the critters away anyhow.

They had a nice smell, but definately not something to conceal your position.
I hope these tablets come unscented.

Is they are similar with what we used - you'll be happy to have bought them.

I've heard great things about them. Bought one last fall (camo version of course) so I haven't tested it out yet. They aren't supposed to hurt concealment as far as scent goes. Time will tell.

They work Great

We bought one for the lake last summer and tested it by walking in the bush to s swarm of of the long nosed nasty blood suckers and the just stayed away. You could actually see the swarm move from us.

Some of the guys at the archery range have also used them for hunting this last spring and fall with the same success and yes NO SMELL.

A must for the bush or lake.
