Anyone have any experience with Thermold mags for an M4? I have an opportunity to get some from the States (20/5s) and am wondering if anyone has used them?

Were Canadian Forces issue. Originally intended to be disposable. Problems with the feed lips cracking and when shooting blanks and lots of "Rock 'n Roll" the lips could start to melt, resulting in the derogatory nickname: "Thermelt"

If you want 20 round polymer/plastic magazines, go pick up some 20 round Magpul P-Mags. 1000% better magazine than the Thermold.

Thermolds

:D I can't speak with experience about the 20's. I used the 30 rounders years ago when you could load 30, never had a failure to feed or eject, through thousands of rounds. The GI 30's available at the time were not as reliable. The plastic was very tough and did not melt, in fact is hardly showed wear. The only down side was they were a bit snug in the mag well.

The newer Thermold mag is completely different product than the CF issued Thermelt, they are made from zytel which is the same material as the S&W MP9 bodies and Kel-Tec products, if you can get a hold of them in a good price than go for it.

THere is no reason to get thermolds (whether they are scrapyard special or the original American) when P-mags are widely available.
