I'm posting this in here as the shotgun has a composite stock and a short barrel. So I bought a 780 and it worked for a time and for $50 I was happy, but then it went kaboom and I was sad. I considered using it for something cool, or even trying to fit 870 parts inside it, but lack of ambition got the better of me an on the shelf it went. After a while I bought and 870 and it was fun but the barrel is real long and from 1951 so not something I want to fool around with as it's original to the receiver. Today it's raining and winding and I've got nothing better to do so I decided to do the unthinkable, I made the 780 barrel fit the 870. Took a bit of cutting and some dremel work inside the chamber/barrel opening but it functions, and well.

The chamber area (there was a ramp to the edge that needed to be cut down and where the lug on the bolt locks in need to be a 90 instead of a slope)

It seems to be structurally sound, I put two full tubes of Federal Skeet #7's through it as fast and hard as I could and it held up to that (I wore the bullet proof vest for that test). Being that it's a short non choked barrel there isn't likely to be a whole lot of pressure and I doubt I'll ever fire anything but skeet load through it. I like having a short little pump again they sure are fun.
