Thickness of rem 700 stocks?

I'm wondering if the Rem 700 Classic stocks are slimmer, particularly in the grip and magazine/balance point area than the older style BDL stocks. Anyone know? My BDL stock is just a bit too thick for my short stubby hands to carry comfortably all day- especially when compared to my brother's mountain rifle.

Thanks,

Stef

Stef; Yes, the 700 "Classic" stock IS slimmer in the grip area and the floorplate area, than are the BDL's.

The CDL stock is also a bit slimmer, and has a cheekpiece, if that is important to you.
It is much like the mountain rifle stock [the CDL]

The Classic stock has always felt best in my hands, but that is a personal thing.

Thanks very much Eagleye. Really appreciate your reply. Are the CDL's slimmer still than the Classic stocks? I really don't feel the need for a cheek piece, just the slimmest stock I can get my paws on. I also prefer the look of the classic as compared to the CDL. While I'm at it, will the BDL barreled action fit into a mountain rifle stock or would the barrel channel be too small?

Thanks again,

Stef

There is a huge difference between the very light mountain rifle contour and the much heavier BDL contour... huge difference... either turn the BDL smaller or open up the stock or a bit of both...
