Can I borrow your lawnmower please?
Make sure it has a full tank fo gas while your checking the oil and spark plug too.
Oh how sharp is the blade?
Sounds like you need to get some new kit and label who owns it.

I've loaned many things, and also borrowed many things! So far I have not had any issues (a few things came back in a bit worse condition, but nothing major!)

Last weekend I borrowed my buddies trailer. He was having a flat on one of them, and told me, so I would add air. But I had a blow out on it (was old weathered tires). I changed it to the spare, and went out and bought him a used (but good) tire, put it on and returned it! He said I didn't have to because the tire was crap, but it broke with me using it, so I felt I had to change it!

Tools, don't lend out the tools!

Rules I live by....
If I borrow something, bring it back and in better condition than you received it.
If you break it, buy a new one and return both.
If you don't like those rules, then you shouldn't borrow things

Lastly, never lend anyone anything, They don't live by your rules.

So have you ever lent your neighbour your wheel barrow, only to find that he mixed cement in it and never washed it out, AND you had to end up going to his house to retrieve it 3 months later.

Does not matter where you are or who's camp it is the one thing that you can not hang onto is Bunggie Cords & Rachet Tie downs.I did not even bother looking for them anymore.Just buy more.

Under most circumstances I don't lend or borrow. If an emergency keeps someone from hunting(ie, broken scope, forgotten rain jacket) I will lend mine but as a general rule I don't offer my stuff. Everyone is responsible for themselves and my hunts are too precious to be a sucker to someone else's irresponsibility or selfishness

My almost new jw young fly reel loaded with brand new Cortland laser line. Never got it back and cant remember for the life of me who borrowed it. Most of my huntin buddies are well equipped and close friends, always get stuff back, none of them have my reel.

Depends on the person - some people you get the vibe won't respect your stuff, others will. I won't lend my stuff to most people, but a given few I know will return the item as received or better.

I lent out a mobile stereo unit - came back with bent plugins, obviously dropped, no charge, dented face cover. They basically denied it had happened and refused to talk about it. They don't get help with things any more.

I make do with what i have, if i really need something i will find a way to buy it. Likely not gona borrow anything that i value high and am weary as to who i lend stuff to. Been burnt too many times in the past and usually it was my older brother. One bad apple spoils it for all....

Compound bows !
Long story short I had a brand new freshly setup bowtech assassin lent it to a buddy who's bow got stolen he called me 20 minutes after I dropped it off his oldest son grabbed it off the table and dry fired it the bow was 100% destroyed, that was the first time and last time anybody has ever handled my bow but me or Mike at north pro sports.
