Think I became a skeet shooter today!

I don't know if this is the right place to ask thins but is it worth getting shooting lessons for shotgun shooting? I've never shot a shotgun before and it looks like shooting clays can be quite challenging.
I have no qualifications as an instructor, but I help many new shooter's, because we have no local instructors available. The hardest thing for new shooters, is to keep both eyes open, concentrate on the targets and not the beads, and to keep swinging the gun. Most beginners close an eye, and try to use the beads like rifle sights, and stop the gun to pull the trigger.

Yes. The best way is to visit a skeet range. Talk to ppl there and have someone help you. If you have any natural ability it will show up quick. You can go from there and journey on your own or seek professional help.
There's many small things that add up to creating and maintaining proper form and movements
Thanks for the info, there are a couple a places to shoot skeet/trap where I live. I'll be sure to check them out some time and see if I can get some help.

Two weeks ago I was contacted by one of our dog club members, who asked if I would help his friend choose a new shotgun for bird hunting. I invited him out to skeet , and brought my SX-3 for him to use. He came out and discovered that he really enjoyed skeet, despite the 60km wind that made the targets much tougher. He purchased a new SX-4, and a club membership, and showed up yesterday, to shoot with us. With the better conditions, the targets were much more predictable, and he did very well shooting 20, while shooting the targets as singles. By the third round, he was shooting the doubles, and had a great time. I showed him the 25/50/75/100 patches, and he asked if it is common ro shoot clean rounds. My ugly flinch appeared, and ruined my first round, but I then ran 75 straight with the 410, and now he is really inspired.

I am really not the best shotgunner out there, I lack hand eye coordination. I used to shoot trap fairly regularly a few years ago as we have a very active league at the club I belong to. I would get high and low scores every week and get a little discouraged. My club also offers informal skeet on Sundays. No scoring, just a handful of shooters having a good time. I actually enjoy missing at skeet as much as I enjoy hitting clays at trap.

Just my Sunday musing.
May not be the fanciest shooter out there but is something that fits me just right and breaks some birds.

I never shot skeet only trap. I really enjoy it

Think I may dust off my trap gun for tomorrow morning. It’s league day, they need shooters like me to feel good about themselves..

Btw- I got one of those wire shell catchers so I don’t annoy the actual shooters.
From what I have seen, skeet shooters tend to do better at trap, than trap shooters do at skeet.

I’m the exception. I’m not good at either. So I’m out there for me!
Some people enjoy competing agaist others, some enjoy earning patches, some just enjoy improving their scores, and some just enjoy shooting. We have one guy, with zero natural ability, that shoots a shotgun that doesn't fit him, and despite not having shown any real improvement in over two years, he keeps coming out to shoot.
