Well I ordered a new M14 from Marstar yesterday. Just needed to have one. Any ideas on how to approch this new purchase to my wife?
Not that buying a new gun is any big deal or anything new but,,,,, after coming home with the new tractor a few months ago,,,,,, and oh ya then the new diesel truck. Anyway I guess I have a couple of weeks to find a way to :slap:stay out of trouble.

At least you didn't make the same mistake I did and bring it home on Valentines Day.... It will all blow over. If it did for me, it can for you!

Think of it this way....If you have not P.O.'d a woman today it means you still in bed or are dead. Having a P.O.'d wife is life afirming, proving you are awake and alive.

If she gives you any grief about it tell her that from now on you've got a veto on what kinds of shoes she's allowed to buy...and you've got a nice set of gumboots on layaway for her at Wal-Mart.

I guess it depends on where you are in your relationship, and how much knowledge of firearms your better half has...

A good friend of mine is lucky, in that his spouse only observes the "black" one or the "shiny" one going into or coming out of the safe, and hasn't quite noticed any further discriminating details.

My wife, for better or for worse, is a shooter herself, and now owns 8 of her own firearms... With her Xmas gift she was putting 5 rounds into a 3/4" group the other week at the range.... So, if I try to sneak a new firearm into the house, I will get in trouble, and I have to remember to zigzag as I pelt away for safety... My dearest hasn't got any practice leading moving targets yet.

I have suggested a compromise, though... For every three pairs of shoes she buys, I get to purchase a new firearm.

When she finds it tell her you're not sure how it got there, that you think maybe those things are breeding in the dark gun lockers when you're not looking.

Buy her some flowers bring her out to dinner and tell how great it is to have a wife who is so understanding about your shooting hobby. Then finish with when ever I buy a new gun, I think how lucky I am to have you in my life and that is why I now have a new M14.

Sells for twice the price in the US, and the supply is drying up in Canada so it will appreciate. It's not a firearm, it's an investment.

Dsiwy, I like that one. I could see it working. Anyway I still have time before it gets here.:dancingbanana:

Every time I bring a new gun home, I always say that it is the same one, that I had the gunsmith working on it....She doesnt know the difference from an M14 to an AR180B to a p17....works every time!

lotsa guys from here have met my wife, as i host the wet coast m14 clinics in my livingroom/dining room :D
I do believe , when I got married last July that I married the coolest chick on the planet. Don't believe me? Well, my near completed "gun room" , complete with shop tools and 2 work benches..... and an ensuite bathroom and a couch :D was only 2 weeks ago...... the master bedroom :D And yes boys..... it was HER IDEA :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

My wife doesn't understand why i would get one more m14s ...... she watches me tweak and tune m14s and work on stocks near everday.... and still thinks me buying one more is a waste of time..... she thinks i should buy 5 :D :D :D

Tell her you are probably mental case - from time to time you have to buy an M14 just to stay normal.

....u put it in the safe without her seeing....when he asks about it you say "what? that old thing! u never saw it because i dont shoot it...mabye this weekend i should take it out" and run outa the room as fast as u can so she has no time to ask questions.
