Just thought i would show you all what i picked up today at Grech Outdoors. :)

Now i just need to pattern it this week and be hunting turkey by next weekend! Can't wait! :dancingbanana:

Nice! I looked at the 3 barrel combo back in the spring and didn't buy it. When I went back to get it at Gobles in London they were sold out. I picked up the 2 barrel combo instead (Turkey/Waterfowl) for $435. Gobles was selling the 3 barrel for $535. I doubt that I would have ever used the deer barrel but for $100 for a barrel it's hard to beat.

FYI - Federal 3" #6 mag shok turkey loads pattern very well. Shot at targets from 20 and 30 yards and had 2 very dead turkey targets. Didn't try 40 yards but probably would have still had plenty of pellets in the kill zone.

LondonDave, i'll have to give those federal #6's a try at the range as soon as its not raining....

I also wanted the deer barrel just for that purpose. And hey, while i'm at it i could also try skeet and trap... possibilities are endless!

It is a great package. 2/3 guns in one really. We've shot trap with ours and patterned the turkey barrel. Haven't had a long beard come in close enough yet for the real deal.

Gobles gave me a box of the Federals for free when I bought the gun. I probably wouldn't have bought them otherwise because they're $18 a box and I'm cheap.:)

My neighbour has the same gun and we patterned his with some #5 Kent shells at 30 yards and didn't have near as many pellets in the kill zone. That could be the difference between the#5 and #6 shot though. The Federals definitely had more kick then the Kents.

Well if the weather holds up, hopefully i can get out at the beginning of the week, get the gun patterned (i'll try and post some pics) then be out in the bush by the end of the week....

Actually i still need to grab some extra camo and a call or two, got any recommendations on the calls? Ohhh and don't forget a couple of decoys too.

I'm no expert but I would say a box call and some kind of slate call. Box call for long distance calling to get the boys attention and slate call for quiet purrs and putts if you get them coming in. I haven't been able to master a mouth call yet but if you can they are probably better than a slate because it keeps your hands free and less movement. If you're in London at all Archers Nook has the best selection and price on calls and decoys that I've seen.

Dave

Perfect, I'm in London all the time so i'll make sure i pop in there sometime. Where in London is it?

My friend had just purchased a mouth and he said he nearly choked on the darn thing. He said he couldn't stand it. lol Each to there own i suppose. But i do like the idea of having my hands free though.

It's on Charterhouse which is the first street running west off Clarke Rd south of Trafalgar. If you're familar with the A&P plaza at that corner The Nook faces the parking lot. They are closed Wednesdays and Sundays and open 2pm to 9pm through the week. I can't remember what their Saturday hours are but it's on the website.

Mouth calls are cheap ($4-$5) so it's worth buying one just to give it a try. Guys that know how to use them can work magic with them. I haven't got the knack of it just yet.

Got the same set up minus the camo, oddly enough it's not like bringing flowers home to the wife

Dammit.... i should have thought of that myself. P.S. to self......

Bring flowers next time i bring new gun home with me. :)

Nice gun! I recently got a 835 with the thumbhole stock for turkey hunting. Patterned it with 3 shots and the 4th killed a my jake! Good luck with the new gun!

As of today, no not yet. I still need some cleaning supplies and a few types of ammo to try out. I'll post a range report later this week. I've got plans to go out by the end of this week for my very first hunt, so i've got some prep to do before hand. ie. turkey tag, camo clothing, calls, etc. I'm getting pretty excited and not to mention anxious. :D

Pattern

I have the Turkey barrel, using Winchester supreme 3.5 inch number 4's. Great turkey pattern, I have taken ten shots with this gun since I got it. 6 patterning it with different loads. 2 shots turkey hunting, one last year, one this year, two turkeys going for a ride in the pick up truck. The other two shots were deer hunting. Great gun, nice and light, just hang on using the turkey loads because it is so light.
