Think this would mount on a SKS alright?

Sure...if you get a gunsmith to drill and tap the left side of the receiver for the AK mounting plate it needs to attach to.
It would be more solid then the receiver cover mounts, that's for sure.
Also depending on what height you want it at, you may have to trim the side of the stock abit.
Keep us posted on your project...as it might turn out to be a good alternative to what is currently available.
