Think we're in for another shortage?

We are already in a 7.62x39 shortage...

I hope it doesn't grow
Surplus only lasts until it's all gone. Now that the major powers have changed to different cartridges, in some cases, just like the huge stockpiles of 303 Brit, 6.5 Carcano, 30-06, 7.62 Nato, and reams of others, the only ammo left is commercial, until it isn't profitable to make it any longer.

It's a regular cycle.

Many folks here have learned the hard way. Some still haven't figured it out.

The Iranian conflict is burning up millions of rounds, just for training and requalification purposes every day. It's much more widespread than Ukraine. Then of course there's also the Far East issues, where Korea, Taiwan, China, and Japan, to name a few, are also building up stockpiles.

Looks like there are a lot more ground fighting issues in South America as well, as there seems to be an honest effort to take out the drug Cartels.

When that ammo gets used up by governments, it all has to be replaced, mostly with new manufacture type, and when that happens, civilian needs take a quick plummet to the bottom of the list.

It wasn't that long ago, maybe ten years or so that a single 22 LR round of ammunition could not be found anywhere in Canada or the United States........:(

That should have taught all of us hunters and target shooters there's a problem.

Everyone has to stock-pile in regards to their budget these days, however rent, mortgage, cost of gas, diesel, and groceries are killing a lot of average Canadians......:(

Even if we are lucky enough to eliminate all Liberals from power, the damage they have done will last 2-3 decades I would think.

Having a change in power will be awesome for honest and hard working Canadians, however it cannot change the trillions of dollars in debt these Liberal Scum-B@gs have left us all in!

Hopefully the orange buffoon is not stupid enough to start a ground war in Iran but if he does, yah, we'll be short of lots of stuff... or more likely paying more!
As a person, I don't have much use for Trump, but much of what he and his supporters have done had to happen sooner or later.

The writing was on the wall over ten years ago that the measures taken by the US had to happen.

The US "dollar" has been the Fiat currency of the world since WWII, and the proceeds from the trade fees of that currency pay for much of the US world police activities, and much more.

When WWII ended, it was found that there were only two major currencies capable of carrying that weight and responsibility for international trading. One was the US, and surprisingly, Japan. Japan had set up a public "tithing" system where every citizen had to give the government 10% of all their profits, to be banked for public emergencies, and provide retirement/savings. The money was held in the World Bank, and records were kept of every individual's contribution.

As we know, a lot of Japanese didn't make it through WWII, and similar to our own CPP, when all of the recipients passed, the remaining funds were left in the kitty. Many low income Japanese were multi millionaires when they passed.

For many years after WWII, along with a lot of other things, those excess funds rebuilt Japan too an economic and industrial powerhouse. Japan never did allow the "BANKS" to dictate monetary policy.

By the end of the Viet Nam war it soon became apparent to Japan that being the "other" Fiat currency of the world came at a high cost.

It became too easy to bring in money from the proceeds of the "traded" currency fees, and they were letting develpment of industry slide.

There was enough money coming into Japan's coffers to make it easy for them to dump money into "social assistance" programs, and they did.

Finally, by the early nineties, they pulled their currency off the world stage as a trading platform and started redeveloping within their own borders, and building up their armed forces, under the constraints placed upon them by the WWII declarations.

There is much more to it, but there are hundreds of books written on the details.

The US is in a similar place, and if they want to stay at the top of the international food chain, they will have to "fix" a lot of issues.

That fix, just like Japan, will not be well viewed by many.

IMHO, it's too bad we don't have a "Trump" taking care of Canada.

I would take Trump over carnage any day of the week.

Well this probably isn't the place to debate these things but don't let your dislike for Carney obscure your view of what's happening in the US under Trump. He has the lowest approval ratings for any president in 65 years, around 37%, lower than Biden and lower than himself in his first term, and that was before the war which is very unpopular.

BS

Yes we are, Canada's major importer closed shop. The regulations are making this more problematic for it to happen. Combine that with the shutdown of mining for lead in the US necessitates the importing of it. (cough CHYNA.) Prohibition by regulation.
Which importer?

Another shortage is coming. The US and Israel have dropped more bombs in a week that Ukraine drops in a month. Trump has already ramped up production of missle components. Fuel and explosive will also be needed. They go and make it a ground war and guaranteed the ammo companies will be supplying the government first. Moving multiple carrier groups into the area means a prolonged battle plan. How much ammo are they going to go through. Nitrocellulose is going to be used up real quick. So as usual the government get theirs first and us reloaders come in last place so a shortage is coming.

Your dislike of Trump is very apparent from your previous post where you called him a buffoon.
However, like many, you confuse social popularity with effectiveness.
The same people complained about Harper not being charismatic and being dull. Then when that piece of shiitte, Carney, came about, those same people then said "maybe we need someone who is more staid and even-keeled'. In other words dull and boring.
Trump may be doing things the wrong way for the wrong reasons, but generally speaking he is doing the correct things.

Is this coming shortage because... of a looming global war?

Some say China doesn't have the fuel to fight a war.

Social popularity? I have no interest in his social popularity. Here's what "buffoon" is normally meant to convey:
"Usage: Frequently used to describe public figures viewed as stupid, incompetent, or foolish by opponents."

My negativity towards him doesn't really matter but how US citizens perceive him, does. His low approval ratings have to do with his performance/results vs. what he promised, for example: his handling of the economy and starting the war. I do admire his bias to action (compared to the endless cheap talk we have in Canada) and he got very good results at the southern border.
