thinking about a 9.3x???

I see these rounds popping up once and a while, and wondered by which length is the most coommon/available? And what does it compare to in size/recoil? Or are they roughly the same size as a 375 H+H?

57 62 63 64 74
The 74 is a rimmed version of the 62. Not quite the 375 hh in performance but not far off. Its the working mans 375 sorta thing. The 57 is fairly mild the 62 has a lil more punch. Nothing serious is the standards. I don't know about the 64 brenneke

There's also a 9.3x60, and the wildcat 9.3x300 Win Mag, 9.3x350 Rem Mag and 9.3x338 Win Mag. I'm sure there are others I've missed. Generally a good medium bore hunting cartridge, regardless of length or case. - dan

9.3x62 is the most common and although it's often compared to the .375 H&H it might be better to compare it to the 35 Whelen.
The 35Whelen and the 9.3x 62 are basically a 30-06 case with .366" and .358" bullets.
The 9.3x64 is on a fatter case and pretty close to the .375 H&H

The 9.3 x 62 ia by far the most common, and there are actually a few manufacturers making new rifles in that chambering. As has already been said, it's basically a .35 Whelen. I own a 9.3 x 64 Brenneke, and it packs a wallop. Very close to the .375 H&H in performance, but components are very hard to come by. I have to make my own brass from .338 Win Mag cases with a lathe and a lot of swearing.

Recoil will vary depending on your load and overall rifle weight. Why Not? and I both have Mauser 9.3x62s but his wears a scope while mine is scopeless. given the samne bullet weight and velocity, mine is probably more belligerent than his. But his has killed more game.

I know there is a 9.3 x 416 rigby type as well

I suggest the x64 in a bolt and x74 in a double. Got the world in your hands at that point.

With good bullets today or even solids, they can and will do it all.

I considered this very briefly, then realized it would do nothing any better than a .375 RUM, which I already own, and the .375 has people making factory ammo for it, as well as high BC boattails, which the 9.3 doesn't have.

Cool wildcat for sure, just a case of not quite duplicating an existing factory round, so I opted out.
