I am considering buying a new 45ACP for IPSC. I am considering a Para or STI. I have shot the Glock 45's and own a M&P 9 but I find I like the feel of a metal framed pistol better.

Any suggestions are welcome since I am new to the game.

Yea olde Beretta in 9mm stil works for me lol:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

STI, but you might want to think about a round with cheaper and more plentifull brass.
Most people are using .40 for standard...
YMMV

I have a Sig 226 in 40. I just don't like the double action first shot.

I believe the Nornico is interchangeable with real 1911's but cheap isn't a criteria.

My current 45 is a STI Trojan (8 round mag).

Since I am a non-stocking firearm retailer I have access to most makes.

Norinco NP-30. Cheap, double stack, not sure if parts from other 1911's are interchangeable.

Just a thought.
Many Parts are not. Norinco chose not to copy anyone (this time??) on the double stack design.
Also, he said he wanted it for IPSC. That piece of junk wouldn't last a season in IPSC major.

Thanks for the clarification on the Norinco. I agree they won't stand up to competition, if you go 45 you might as well go major;) that is why I am leaning to the Para or a STI Legend.

.

For IPSC best to go with an STI or SV in 40 S&W, less and nicer recoil pulse, still makes major easily, 10 round mags to fit in the box available, bullets and brass are cheaper, and if you later decide to shoot in other counties( without 10 round limit) then only the 40 is competative ( more capacity).

If money is no object and you want all metal you can spring for the SV with metal grip or get a Caspian widebody ( all metal) built for you.

Whatever you get it will probably need tuning as well,

I'd also suggest .40 vs .45 - cheaper ammo and cheaper reloads, still gets you in Major. If you have or plan on getting a 9mm gun, you need only to stock small pistol primers for both - 9mm and .40; .45 requires large pistol primer.
As for the gun - STI or even Kimber as there are plenty of parts available for both as opposed to Para. I did get Para and had to fiddle with it a bit to get where I needed to be, mags are hard to come by and other stuff..

Sti. Maybe there is a better model out there, but the S_I guns haven't been dominating the pack just on fashion.

It's funny that people still bash the norinco's considering the metal they use is stronger then most company's out there. And you can't beat the price. (But I guess I'm mainly talking about the 1911's)
