Thinking about buying A CPO sig P226

I am new to guns and do not have much of a clue what to look for when buying a gun. I have tried many different types of guns and I really like the look and feel of the P226. At the local gun store there are a few CPO sigs. Can you give me advice on what to look for both good and bad when I examine the guns.
 
Take a look at questar's site, they are selling a brand new 226 for $899, considering most CPO are still selling in the $850 range, I would buy new vs CPO, lifetime warranty- new and nothing to worry about such as flakey finish.

:agree: Some of the pricing on Sigs through Questar at the moment is as low as I've ever seen on Sig pistols. The CPO guns were a great deal at $850 when new was $1100, now - not so much.
 
CPO - Certified Pre-Owned.

"Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) pistols have been Factory Certified after passing the SIGARMS Five-Point Factory Certification process".

They can be a bit hit and miss with the finish and looks, but they are all mechanically just fine.
 
I got my P226 .40 CPO for $650.00. It is a fantastic gun at any price. I refit it with laser grips from P&D very early on.

For $200.00 difference, I wouldn't even get out of bed, but 10 years back that would have been anything BUT the case. Depends on your situation

If $200.00 is an issue and you get a good price on the CPO, definitely take it.
 
I love mine. No finish problems. Everything is tight and like new. One weird thing though--the barrel was absolutely filthy--copper fouled--on delivery.
Everything "under the hood" looked new, though. Tight sights. I'm very happy with it.
