Thinking about getting an antique trapdoor

Men, I'm considering getting a genuine antique Springfield trapdoor 45-70. Is there anything I need to know? I want a good shooter.

What is the standard barrel length of the 1884 rifle? I see 29.5" and 32.5". Are they both correct?

I collect and shoot Springfields/Sharps and they are great.My US Springfield 1884 45-70 trapdoor loaded with 13 grns of trail boss with confederate sights will put 10 shots in a 6" circle at 100 yrds with no recoil to mention .Try David Condons web site.Graham

I found one this week with 99.9% original bluing and case colours... it was absolutely amazing. The stock was perfect with all of the markings beyond excellent. The bore looked like it was new...perfectly smooth, no marks. The only issue was the stock was cut...somebody chopped it just ahead of the band. What is a 99.9% trapdoor in 45-70 with a cut stock worth?? I almost bought it but wasnt quite sure. You'll choke if i mention the price...

Sportee, can you PM me with the price and where it is being sold. I'm actually looking at some original ones that have been used but not abused. Most of the ones I see in the USA in nice condition are less than $1,000.
