Thinking about getting an SKS...

They are addictive, I thought about getting one at Christmas time, now I have five of them. Just buy the cleanest ones you can find, although from what Ive seen is that there isn't a lot of difference between them.
they are all pretty good.
I decided to buy my first today, Now I have 2! Well, I hhave one and the 2nd will be here shortly!!Happy Valentines Day to ME!!!! lol

I bought a nice 53 Tula today too. No rfurb mark, numbers matching with a forced match on the laminate stock. And tonight after a couple b**rs a 49. Now I am hooked, may have a line on a 50 and a 51 that may soon be mine too.. My wife's gonna kill me, but she has agreed to hit the range with me now, huge step from I will never shoot a gun ever a few months ago.

Todays purchase will be my bubba shooter, I'm going to get the new Archangel stock for it when its available, the other guns will just be unfired ornaments in the safe. Most likely I'll get more down the road. I also want a SVT40 eventually, and a Tokarov pistol.

The 49 is a lite refurb from what I can tell. No forced matches and no Lam stock. It will be a show piece only, but looking for a few more to compliment the 53. And maybe a Chinease shooter only to trick out at play with. Gonna have a cleaning party soon, as I got 2 to clean :). Also thinking an SVT 40 would be a cool gun to have. Can one have too many toys? :)

I picked up 3 when a local store was having a sale just prior to christmas - @ $150/ ea how could one saw no ?! Ammo at $300 for 1400 rounds ( non corrosive ). Its a great, cheap and reliable Get'r dun kinda gun !!

You won't be disappointed with the purchase. I would suggest buying in person if you are one to worry about finish and small variations though.

Get one then hold it during your favorite movies it's not just a rifle it's a friend
lol seriously most fun ever for the money
Just a side note the scope has since been filed in a parts drawer as i got used to iron sights i was hooked

and pick one of these up to sight it in because they can be very accurate out to 200 yards

Hey I am just confused how many people saying it. 150 for Russian SKS? Where do those prices come from. 1400 non corrosive? 1400 is Russian ammo and it is corrosive same with Romanian or Chinese. 150 Dollars for SKS must be a chinese one or heavily refurbished one. Had to say it.

Must be refurb russian with ###### stock. For a shooter, nothing wrong with a refurb but for nutz like manys of us, non-refurb is the way to go,even if we keep them in the gun cabinet forever:cool: as for ammo, $300/1400rds non corrosive seems too good:confused:

there is a place in edmonton that starts with an m, if you buy an sks and a case of ammo they knock $65 off the price of the combo, but that only equals $160 for the rifle if you choose to look at it that way.

My first rifle was a chinese sks-d I bought 20 years ago... Still sees more action than all my other guns combined. Reliable and cheap to shoot... What's to question??

$175 Russian refurbs shoot fine, but there are plenty of fine collectables for more. I echo comments about Westrifle having the pick o' the litter if you want collectables... Depends what you want!

I can confirm a non-ssponsor gun shop in Vancouver has 1440 rounds non-corrosive chinese ammo on for $299 rather than normal $375... Picked up two crates yesterday!

Treat that stuff like corrosive. It is rumoured to be despite what said non-sponsor store might insist upon.

i finally got out to the range with my sks OH WHAT A BLAST IT WAS..lol got home less than 5 min gun apart cleaned it up and yes the barrel is just like a mirror.

to the OP, don't worry about Russian, Chinese or Yugo, just buy one and lots of ammo. addicting cheap fun. do be warned however, when you store it, put a condom on it because they tend to breed into incestuous families in lockup!!!!!!

ok , that settles it for me,, i gotta get one too (and another one maybe at a gun show), have been thinking of it for awhile.. will check out a local gun shop n maybe give them my business.. but i think the ammo is a better buy , for me, at sponsor site on the west coast. local guy says they have Russian ones, never "fired" , individually boxed , not in the multi-gun crates..
