So I'm thinking about getting a norinco m14 !!!

Need help educate me please what do I need to know about these guns before I buy one ??? Pros/ cons ? What kind of things need to be done the make them a good / great rifle ??

Can a inexsperianced person like me do what needs to be done ??

Virtually every sticky in the MBR area is on the Norc M14s, they'll probably answer every question you have, and every question you ever will have.

It's mandaory that you watch platoon while caressing your m14. You also need a set of old style od fatigues and a stub of a cigar so you can stand in front of the mirror and look fearsome:D Theyre just too much fun.
P.S Get used to complaining about the cost to feed them (take up reloading)

Read read then when your ready to ask Q's, read some more. Or just buy one - shoot it then see what you need to do to it if anything. Honestly as soon as I saw one I had to have it. Ive gone through 6 other rifles and never even thought about selling my M14. Its good for everything from Zombies to Moose.
Infact buy 2. This will insure your #### doesnt fall off.
 
If you are married, I suggest separate bank accounts, because yours is going to decrease if you buy one of these awesome rifles.
