Thinking about purchasing dar22

If you're talking about a scoped rifle then the difference between the 16.5" and 12.5" are negligible on paper. You'll see more difference in barrel quality from one barrel to another. I covered this in my post. I also mentioned that short barrel .22s do not have cyclic issues with short barrels. That is a gas operated automatic issue usually stemming from the gas port being smaller for a longer barrel or having the gas port close to the muzzle making the rifle a little more ammo sensitive. Your 10/22 is a blowback action and will not be affected by a shorter barrel. A very tight match chamber will cause you grief with wrong/crappy ammo or if you don't clean it often enough. The barrel usually won't cause any other reliability issues other than problems with the chamber.

Ok ok, so as long as I'm not shooting competition I should be ok with a 12.5" barrel? It would be nice to keep the weight down. Also 12.5" don't cycle the action as we'll??

The 12.5" barrels cycle as well as any other length... barrel length does not have a direct impact on cycling... as with all blow back actions, there is some tweaking required... mostly just finding the right ammo that your gun likes for function and accuracy... but testing ammo is part of the fun.

Forsure, I was also thinking about getting the barrel threaded to the receive because I've heard it is superior but don't totally understand why

What are the advantages?

Threading the barrel to the receiver makes it more rigid and thus improves the consistency of the barreled action... if you go with both the Dlask receiver AND barrel, this is not a big issue because they can better control the tolerances of the tenon O.D and receiver I.D...
