Thinking bout handgunning 6k budget

Hello

Thinking about entering the handgun world...would like to purchase three guns for a total of about 6k...one should be a 1911...very open on other suggestions...I think I would like to stay 9mil and maybe a 45... thoughts are welcome.

I wont shoot competition but I expect all my guns to send bullets where I am....also Im in my 50's so super fine sights arenot a good idea.

I'd look at the high end Sti models...beautifully crafted..and if it's just for target....sig p210...I want one sooooooo bad...nice budget for 3 pistols...enjoy the journey :)
 
You want to spend 6k on guns and wondering what to buy:confused: Are you serious? I don't mean to sound like a #### but most folks know what they want in that price range:p Only advice I can give is go to a retailer that sells high end guns and fondle them. Do you have any shooting buddies with expensive toys that would let you try? Good luck and keep us posted in your quest.

Ouch! Sorry I just dont like junk...I have a bespoke Browning shotty, a super nice steyr...scope combo etc...sorry if I insulted you but my life experience is asking questions then seperating wheat from chaff...you my friend are chaff...
 
The Norc's are actually not junk.

Many good names in the under 2k range for 1911 frames (in 45, some with 9mm available)

My choices would be:
Used Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, Nighthawk or Les Bauer 1911, hopefully around $2400. I say used because you don't want to blow the $6K on one gun.
In 9mm, used HKP7M8 or SIG 210. The HK is unique ( no longer made) and the SIG is a classic and accurate. Around $2K also.
Revolver in .357. A nice 6" 686. Around $1k new.
That's $5400 but the 1911 and 9mm choices could cost more than I predicted.
You have a nice dilemma! Enjoy it!
 
I won't speak to 1911's as they are not my preferred platform.

For nicer 9mm's I have Sig 210's, Sig X5's, a Pardini GT-9, and have previously owned a pair of S&W 952's and a few CZ's. All are excellent firearms and are better than anyone but a professional shooter could fully exploit. The CZ's finish wasn't on par with the others but was certainly the best bang for buck. The 952's were probably the best quality of any but were a let down compared to my S&W 52-2, which they were modelled upon. I like my X5's the most for looks & feel, am most accurate with the Pardini, but the P-210's would be the last to go to a new home. If you want new then only the CZ and Pardini fit the bill, the others are no longer in production. The Pardini is the smoothest pistol I have ever shot fwiw.

Also, don't rule out revolvers. I did for a long time and was certainly missing out. For DA you can start and stop by looking looking at S&W. If SA interests you there is only one logical choice if competition isn't In the cards and it's the Colt SAA.

Nope!
Average condition with holster wear. Fixed sights and craze lines on the grip. Typical issue gun condition.
Seller would not accept my offered price of $1600 so I walked.
Told the dealer where I was on the floor and told him to see me if he changed his mind. By the time I left, the gun still wasn't sold.

9mm - PPQ > M&P9L Core Ported > CZ Shadow 2 : CZ is the best gun I've shot IMHO
.45: S&W Performance Centre SW1911 - keeping this one forever
45LC, 454 Casull, SW460 - S&W 460v - sometime you just want to feel the boom

All in I'm over 6k the only one that was a disappointment was the M&P9.
 
If you are set on new, a really high end combo would be a Pardini GT-9 for a 9mm, and a Les Baer for a 1911 45. That would cap at 2 though.

Another option I really like if you are looking for a target oriented 1911, is the STI Range Master or Target Master (or Sentry for a more traditional model). STI makes them in 9mm as well (in fact more popular in 9mm it seem). They are close to the Les Baer in tolerances and accuracy but 500-700 cheaper. The H&K USP Elite and Experts are great 9mm for under 2K if you don't mind polymers. Tanfoglio Stock 2s or 3s (1800-2300), or a CZ Tact Sport (regular version (1500) or Orange(2500)) are also very nice, if you don't mind something a little more competition oriented.

If you are willing to go used that opens up a lot of possibilities. A Sig P210, Sig X5, H&KP7, H&KP9s, and Smith 952 would all be worthy considerations. The Sig X series are some of my favourite shooters.
 
What part of the world are you from? Can you get to a range to see others using/fondly their toys? Most shooters would love to share their favorites with you if you express a little interest. You can't beat "hands on".
 
I understand the high end preference - and I share it. The problem is that your question is much like "which nice car should I buy?" The only suggestion is to make your 1911 a 45. Because.... well because it should be. :)
