Thinking bout handgunning 6k budget

+1 on quality over qty

If you want a 1911, make it a 45ACP... everything else (with the exception of the 455) is just wrong.
I've had the opportunity to play with a 1911 made by Dlask... It was pretty darn nice.

Something in 9mm ?
- For a reason or another, I'm kind of fond of the Browning HP
- P210, very nice, shoots good... Didn't keep it. Funny how one doesn't mind spending $ on the gun, but cannot deal with the stupid price for the spare magazines... Same goes for the HK P7...
- One of the CZ75 variant, with a 22lr kit (everyone needs at least one 22!)

How about a revolver? Everyone need one of those... for the days when you don't want to chase your brass across the range...

If you have Liberal/NDP friends... A case could also be made for a BRS-99/ CZ-91 Skorpion/ Kriss Vector/Z-58 Super Short... the sheer look of terror in their eyes (when you bring it out for show and tell, after supper, and leave laying around it on the coffee table) is worth it :pirate:

1. Les Baer 1911 Monolith Commanche (Heavyweight) .45ACP
2. S&W Performance Center 625 .45ACP
3. Sig P210

IMO the above have both Looks and Performance....

Great recommendation right there. The performance Center 625 would be hard to find but any 625 or 610 tuned by Murray Charlton would be even better in my opinion.

My PC 625 shoots great and has a fantastic trigger in both DA & SA. I can't imagine how much more Murray can do to it....one of my Never Sells!

The scorpion with a big mag sticking out is best for that

As far as workhorse guns goes, how many tens of thousands of rounds do you think you can get out of a match target barrel if you arent reloading?

What do you mean? How many before the bore is shot out or how many before a small drop in accuracy occurs? For the former it doesn't matter as ammo cost will far outweigh having a new barrel fitted. For the latter.......oh yeah, same answer. Especially if you're buying factory match ammo. One of the guys I shoot with has a Pardini GT-45; he claims 40,000 rds through it with no discernable decrease in accuracy. My S&W 41 is well beyond that with no noticeable change. We can get into the "are you a good enough shot to notice" argument, but the reality is that if you're that good you're a professional or at the very least sponsored. Sometimes it's just nice to have nice things.

The OP asked for thoughts on higher end pistols. So far you have only questioned his decision making and contributed precisely nothing useful.
