Thinking of a .223

I'm also looking for a .223. Unfortunately I dont think I can afford to shell out for the CZ as nice as they are. So it will probably be a Savage for me.

I am looking into purchasing a .223. Not too sure as to which gun I should get. I don't want to spend a ton of money either. I am open to used rifles forsure. I'd really like an older Sako but they seldom come up for sale.

Any suggestion for new rifles?? I won't be getting a Marlin, Stevens, new Remington and probably not a ruger or savage or Tika either. And yes, I now that I already scratched off some nice rifles there.

How are the A bolts?

What are some good older models that I may want to take a look at that are used and out of production? And yes, I want accuracy.

Also, I am open to anyone that wants to convince me that the above manufacturers listed are worth a look at.

Tradex has one: http://www.shop.tradeexcanada.com/content/sako-vixen-l461-222-0

If you want a good shooting rifle, watch the EE for a Rem 788.

They are one of the best shooting rifles ever made and not known to be a high end rifle....perfect varmit rifle or truck gun.

If you ask anyone that has experience with one they will confirm they shoot amazing.

TIkka T3 lite in .223... accurate, reliable, not that pricey. You'll find some guys hate them, some love them (myself included). Trigger is AWESOME and very crisp, and removeable mags are preferrable to blind mags like a Rem 700.

:agree:

It may not be the perfect rifle in every way I actually wanted a new A-7 but availability was an issue at the time, but how can you argue the accuracy of a T-3 for the price!
Mine shoots way better than 1/2" with the right ammo, never ever had a gun so accurate! Past guns..22-250 Sako V, Rem .17 BDL, Rem 788 in 22-250, played with couple Savs that wouldn't come close, actually 2nd most accurate gun I've ever owned was an old Ruger 77V in .225.

I will be keeping my designed for 22cf, all steel, accurate CZ527 with the set trigger. Lot of guys selling Tikkas but rare to find one of these ladies for sale.
I dont like guns with plastic bits on them. Mags ok. But the rest nah. When I take this rifle to the range she gets a lot of adoring looks. But firstly and mostly I bought this for me after looking at all the rest. Works for me. Good luck with your choice. After all you can always sell it.
