I am looking for a reliable semi for waterfowling. I know...there is nothing wrong with my Benelli Nova, but I have always wanted a semi. Funds are a little tight right now with the upcomming hunting season. Will I regret buying a Baikal MP-153??

I asked the same question awhile back. Do a search for MP153 and read the older threads. I'm currently buying one from another CGN member.Check around might be more on here selling.

Went yesterday for goose opening day with my synthetic Baikal MP-153.

Results speak for themselves.

I am very happy with my semiauto. Cycles everything very reliably. Soft on recoil (i was using 3" magnum shells). I strongly recommend it.

I haven't had any jams or issues with mine. I recommend it.

I would not recommend the camo version. A fellow at my shooting club said he bought one and the camo was done in Canada after productuin. The camo kept peeling off so he got himself the wood version. He actually preferred his Baikal over his Benelli SBE II which kept having problems during our rounds of 5-Stand and Skeet.

Bummer for me as the SBE II was possibly my next step.

Good luck with your shopping.

I was also thinking of getting a Mossberg 930. How does it compare to the MP-153??

I like the Mossberg autoloader too, but I believe that the Baikal is a more robust product.

The main limitation of the Mossberg is that the 930 model does not handle 3 1/2 " shells while the 935 model will not cycle 2 3/4" shells reliably.
