I have the CZ 527 MTR in .223, and it is very accurate and I am quite happy with it, in spite of the sloppy bolt ! I also am looking for an accurate .22LR, and the 457 looks like a very good companion gun to the 527. I would appreciate hearing from owners of the 457 as to their experiences, ie the fit & finish, accuracy, preferred ammo, scope selection, trigger pull, etc.
My .223 has a Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24 x 50mm ERS, and I like it a lot, I was thinking of the same scope for the 457 ?
Your thoughts ?
Thanks

Would be a great combo, love my mtr, did get the 16 inch but it shoots little tiny groups despite the guy steering. Do yourself a favour and get some sk rifle match and a lot of small targets

If you do a search for CZ 457 MTR it'll come up with a ton of stuff to read and pictures to drool over... so get the popcorn out and start your search. In the meantime, I'm going to ring some bells at my 285 yard gong with my 457.

I had a hard look at the 457 MTR, but because I do a lot of practice from field positions and almost nothing from the bench, I rejected the MTR for it's big, blocky stock and went instead for a 457 Varmint. Here's me shooting it while fantasizing I'm out moose hunting (got drawn for Bull Moose this year, woohoo!):

I have a pretty good stable of 452, 453, and 455 rifles too, and feel pretty safe saying that I think the 457 is a better rifle. The lessened bolt throw makes mounting optics closer to the bore possible (important for me to get good cheek position), it's action is much smoother than any of my other rimfire CZs, and it makes 10 round dime sized holes at 50 yards when shooting from a rest. I would consider a 457 american too, but so far I've only seen them with 25 inch barrels which is a bit long for my liking.

The trigger is pretty good, and the fit/finish is also a step above my earlier model CZs. I have no hesitation recommending the action, but I'd be asking yourself what type of shooting do you do the most? If it's proned out off a bipod or from a bench, then I think the MTR would be a pretty good gun. If you're wanting more of a field rifle, I'd hold out for one of the other versions.

Cheers,

Brobee

I don’t have a 457 (yet)
But in the 5 CZ rifles I have had. I was always happy.
The 527 and 452 I have now are on the never sell list.
The 3 I sold are on the Regret selling list

You guys are making me want to try a 457. I've been afraid to handle one at my LGS...rather, the credit card gets nervous. :)

Scuba~what range is that, shooting 50 yards indoors?
