We have a customer with the 457 MTR and he regularly brings in targets like this along with the odd one even better. SK red and yellow box are winners along with various RWS and very surprisingly Remington Viper. The remington had 4 basically one hole and he flubbed the 5th shot a bit. That was at 50yds. TC

Weaver makes a one piece rail for the 457. not sure of the height but it is a little pricey. It slides over the grooves and has the 4 set screws the 457 has indents for similar to the DIP rail for earlier CZ's. TC

Just got the mtr with 20 threaded barrel and it shoots very well.

my MTR

Two seasons ago I got a CZ 457 MTR .17 HMR 20'' Barrel after the 2018 season
I sold a CZ 455 Evolution .22 & CZ 455 Canadian .22 then ordered a CZ 457 MTR .22lr .

Both guns have trigger pulls of 300 gr & 325 gr that is the only mods.
the .17 HMR has a Bushnell Forge 4.5 - 27x 50 FFP , the .22 lr
wears a Nikon FX 100 6-24X50 FFP.

Tried the .22 in a Boyds at One Walnut stock but changed back
and sold the Boyds.

I love both MTR's the .22 is my 100 mtr gun and the MTR.17 HMR is my 200 mtr
plus gun . I haven't shot over 200 mtrs consistantly with either of these rifles
to give feedback , just knowing the best season
is yet to come (2021 come on !!)

I got the 20’´ mtr in .22 with a 4-16 Nikon black x 1000 and bought the area 15 moa base , i also install the area bolt knob and it make a big difference in the handling of the bolt versus the original little ball.

A guy at my club bought a 457 synthetic and dropped it into a MDT chassis. I took 5 shots at 50M and did under 1/2" group. He took 5 shots right after and did a 1" group. Used Eley ammo.

He told me he's got a IBI barrel coming.

Seemed plenty good as it was.

You should get 20-30 MOA base if you plan to shoot past 100 yds. The Area 419 one is nice.

From what I read they are completely unnecessary if you aren't shooting beyond 500-600 yards so why should no gun ever be equipped with a 0MOA base? Only how many million of them out there?

MDT has 20 MOA. Go atleast 20

Because a 0 MOA rail:
a) guarantees your scope can never use all of its travel, which is a waste of purchased capability and
b) guarantees your scope will be zeroed 'above' its mid-point of adjustment, which is a not optimal for the optical performance.

So effectively if you mount your scope on a 0 MOA rail, you are throwing away 60% of its elevation travel right out of the box before you even mount it.
