Thinking of a Marlin guide gun in 45/70

I put the skinner set on mine, but I had to grind off so much of the front sight that now I can hardly pick it out when I shoulder the rifle. I'll be looking around to see what I can do about a new low profile front sight.

Got the rifle yesterday and it looks good. Checkering is certainly different and metal is not as high polished as the old ones, but should still do what it's supposed to do. Lever, hammer and trigger edges could probably be used as a hunting knife should it be required! Very sharp edges.

I got my 405 hb mould from trackofthewolf (7 days after ordering I might add) so I'll have to cast some up and see how this beast shoots!

Some people wrap leather cord or parachute cord around the big loop to get around the sharp edges there. Or if its stainless, Some also take a file and lightly chamfer the edges.
I haven't felt the need to do any of this with mine, but I may take the edge off the underside of the loading gate, where it leaves scrape marks on my brass. But even that will likely smooth out after more rounds through.
