Howdy all.
I have a Stainless slide that has a couple faint scratches and was thinking of bead blasting. I searched the site but couldn't find any before and after pics. I will settle for some after pics.

Also can someone recommend a shop to do the refinishing?

Anyone have any thoughts between bead blasting and hard chroming?

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Here is the gun in question

Go to shoppers drug mark and grab 600mg of IBUPROFIN and a micky of jin, cause all you'll get from that is a head-ach :)

What you need is FRITZ Polish, that will produce a mirror bright finish on stainless and blue finishes that will make your head spin, those faint p*ssy little scratches will be erased in a coat or two...wax on, wax off, FRITZ also has a micro fibre cloth that is used to polish after. You can order from BROWNELLS.COM or try your local gunshop

Trust me, give it a shot :)

Canadian tire might have it but Caswell Canada carries it. Check for Flitz polish.

I am about to save you "easy-style"...

1. Go to Rona.
2. Go to the sand paper area.
3. Find and buy "0" synthetic wool.
4. Go home and with slide removed rub those synthetic wool pads along the sides of your slide (in one direction only. Keep doing this over and over. The look is amazing (like factory Kimber or Ruger.)

Thank me later ;)

I could do it for you, but if it was mine , I would polish it out.
bead blasting would be something like the dust cover ,
very light or more depending on pressure and how much the
glass beads have been used.
Works great on crap paint on Ruger 10/22 frames thou,
looks like dull stainless.

Thanks man I needed a good laugh after poking two fuken holes in the leather seats in my car.

I am going to try the Fritz tomorrow, I will post before and after pics.

** I have a rookie question, how do you remove the front sight on a 1911??**

The synthetic pot scrubbers for teflon coated pots come in various "grits", and can restore a Satin finish to your SS that can come very close to original. some "blending" may be required..

However,
bead blasting with well worn glass bead, sat low pressures, can give some SS a very beautiful "Pearlescent" finish that almost seems to glow.
VERRRRRrrrrry NICE!!

BTDT on some Ruger SS frevolovers, and Randall SS Govt models.

PS: a bit of masking, and blocking some areas from the beading, and you can end up witha very attractive two tone SS finish

I've found my Rona Synthetic Steel Wool "0" to be the best for restoring factory stainless finish. It matches EXACTLY Kimber and Ruger stainless look.

Either way, post pics when completed.
