Thinking of building "mountain" rifle

My Forbes '06 has a 24 " barrel and I'll be comfortable packing it.
Now it might not be considered a mountain rifle by many, but it will have to do.
I've owned and shot 30-06s with 20, 22, and 24 " barrels and for reasons unknown to me the 24 inchers always seemed to shoot the best.
As for the '06 cartridge it will do the job...

Well look at this...
07/02/2013 Now available the Forbes M24B and M20B blueprint spec completed action and bolt. Priced to go at $800 this package includes completed action, fully assembled matching bolt, and bolt lug. All units are on the shelf and ready to ship. Just send a copy of your FFL to rcampbell@forbesriflellc.com or fax your order and FFL to 2007-774-0012. For questions and phone orders call Rick at 207-775-0011x207. You can not buy rifles or finished actions from Forbes Rifle LLC direct unless you are an FFL holder. Offer ends Nov 1st so get them while they last.

So until quite recently you could have purchased a Forbes 20B action, screwed on a Krieger/Broughton/Rock Creek or other high quality barrel in .250 Savage (or 6.5 Creedmoor for you "modern" folks) and....uh, what would you do for the stock?
