thinking of buying 22 cal handgun.

i'm thinking of buying a 22 cal handgun just for plinking. Would like to know what would be the best bang for the buck?

mp 22 good cheap looks like a real gun easy to clean and its good for about 20000 to 25000 rounds than go buy a new one lol...works with all types of ammo except winchester 555 bulk

Now that i know, i will never need another 22lr than my S&W 617, i doubt there is something more accurate and reliable out there at the one K or less mark... It cover perfectly all my 22lr needs... JP.

That was my thinking as well, so I can concentrate on other 22's :)

M93... got one BNIB for $200 all in. Might be the best gun for the price I ever got. Not an AMAZING pistol, but for $200 can't go wrong. Worse case if you dont like it you sell it for $190.

On the EE $250 minimum. Lowball offers ignored. :D

To OP. The mk3 is fricken accurate, but a needless pain to field strip and is also a bit of a project gun. Trigger, mag disconnect, finger biting bolt. I love mine, but for the cost to get it just right, i could have just gone to a S&W 41 and be done and never have the PITA dis/re assembly problems.

i have a GSG,a 25 year old Browning Buckmark, and a traditional 6 shot S&W 617,the most accurate is easily the Buckmark and never seems to jam, eats pretty much anything i feed it,,

My buddies GSG is a nice semi.-auto. pistol I've used several times that I'll be happy to use again (he has complained once or twice about it not eating all ammo., though I think it had more to due with the cheap bulk ammo. he was feeding it). I prefer to only use only CCI ammo. for all 22LR firearms myself.

Always liked the Ruger Mark ll & lll's (semi.-auto.) especially with the heavy barrel, very reliable with any and all ammo. used and easy to shoot.

The quality of the Ruger SP101 (stainless revolver) is very nice, but they have become very expensive over the years. IIRC I bought mine new for around $400, however they are about double that now.

I'm thinking of getting the Ruger 22/45 Lite (semi.-auto.) for my wife and daughter to use, although while it will be their go to handgun I'm very much looking forward to shooting it myself.

Finally I'm interested in the newer Ruger SR22 semi.-auto. pistol for myself, although I've not even held that one yet so can't say much about that one (also the longer barrel version may not even be available yet in Canada).

Cheers D

I will also be looking for a .22 pistol and after a bit of digging/reviewing sites and youtoo's, I think I have decided on the Browning Buck Mark. Problem is which model? The Plus Stainless UDX is a sweet looking rig. I might check if the 7 1/4 inch barrel version is available in Canada.

Right now you can get a $50 rebate on a browning buckmark now as well. I really wanted the plus model, but it was a bit expensive everywhere i looked. I decided to get the stainless camper brand new for hundreds less! I bought a high viz fiber optic sight for it too.

I don't have the gun yet, but here's pics of the 2 models. After changing out the sight, i don't think there will be much difference except for the grips. The grips on the plus model are nicer, but are they $300 +/- nicer?..

for me it's just a 22 plinker that i won't be taking to the range everytime. I've tried a few different 22 pistols and found i do like the buckmark the most

Why wouldn't you be taking it everytime? You never know when you're in the mood to just plink.
Congrats on picking up a time tested 22lr HG…..
