Thinking of buying a Mauser...

There is plenty of Igman SP ammo for not too bad a price. Things Military in Calgary sells it. It's boxer primed, and soft point so you can hunt with it. The brass is pretty good and you just reload it.. I bought 500 rounds from Bill at TMC...

I also go to gun shows and stock up on ball when I can find it. But that stuff is corrosive and berdan primed can't reload it.. well yu can but need different loading s**t...

anyway, I'd go with the MAUSER..... :)

Thanks...I think I will have one soon...:D

Can you tell me what the issue is with "berdan primed?"?

Cheers!

Berdan primed ammo is a lot harder to reload than boxer primed, to the point of it not being worth it unless it is a real hard to come by caliber.

Since I have never reloaded, please excuse my question if it doesn't make sense, but is it more difficult because the primer is a different size/type and a reload cannot be inserted into the casing? Does that makes sense?

Sort of...

The berdan primer is indeed a different type and they are hard to find/expensive. The berdan primer has two flash holes while boxer primers have one.
Besides the primer type/flash holes, there isn't a difference between the two types of case so they are both reloadable.
