Like the title says, what is your opinion on that rifle? I am also wondering if those rifle are considered to be rare?

Old school soviet battle riffle for under 300$ , doesn't get much better unless you get a sks for 200$ ! I don't believe there rare but they are definitely cool . I don't have one myself , but I do have a sks and it's fantastic , I've considered getting one but I've got to get rid of a couple first .

SVT40 is an awesome rifle mate, the 2nd rifle I bought after coming to Canada!
In WW2 the Germans preferred this rifle to their own,it was ahead of its time, which showed when the Russian peasants couldn't make full use of them.
I love mine despite it being a bugger to clean, remove the cleaning rod for improved accuracy.
It is a beautifull rifle which has been underestimated through the years.

They will be very sought after in the coming years.

If anything, they look cool.

I've never felt the urge to own one. They can be finicky, and the take down/stripping process can be...demanding.

Nothing 50 or so go throughs won't cure though.

I admire the simplicity of the Mosin personally, and the less convoluted SKS.

Buy it!!!! I have one. If I had to have just one Russian rifle it would be a svt-40. It is bad a$$ out of the box. You ever wonder why there is piss all for aftermarket stuff for a svt-40. Because it is already decked out. Comes with a sweet muzzle brake and the earlier ones have rails for a scope. Also semi auto with a heavy hitting round. Detachable magazine to add to the coolness. I love mine. Better than all other WW2 rifles. Really fun to shoot and don't warn your buddies about how loud it is. They will poop their pants when they hear it. Sounds like a cannon. You might want to use ear plugs. Svt-40 makes the mosin and SKS look like a #####.

Had 5 of them over the years and have 2 still right now.......so much fun to shoot but man its easy to burn through ammo quickly.

Awesome rifles for the dollar, hard hitting inexpensive semi auto hunting rifle as well if you buy soft points.

Can't go wrong with them, It's Russian reliable and tough.

All I can say is... GET ONE !!!

They are awesome to shoot, they look cool and they are accurate.

Don't know why people gripe about cleaning. It's easy to take apart once you practice a couple times.

I have as much fun cleaning mine as I have shooting it. It's all part of the milsurp experience.

Cheers !!!

After all those positive reply i think i an gonna get one! Not sure if it will be now or this fall. Do you think they could be gone by this fall?

I have three, one from each manufacturer. They are definitely fun, I find the Mosin 91/30's to be more accurate but you can knock over a milk jug at 200 yards without much trouble. Some manufacturer/year combinations are difficult to find and command a bit of a premium as far as current collector value goes, if you can locate one built in 1945 you could easily start a bidding war in the EE, I think there's only a handful in the country.
Red rifle supply is slowly winding down, maybe sooner than expected with recent turmoil in the Ukraine. I'd buy sooner than later, at the very least expect prices to start increasing.

Do it. Do it now. And while you are there, buy me one too, please!

I just bought mine about a month ago and I love it. Looks and feels awesome. Have taken if apart 3 times and cleaned it completely and it's not hard at all, ( and currently I have a severed tendon on my good hand)
GET ONE. Or 2
