there are so many different types, i dont know where to look. if someone could point me in the right direction.

basically i want a shorter barrel, with the collapsable stock but dont know which brand or which model to get. dont want to spend a rediculious amount, just want a good reliable rifle to practice with. theres probably so many options out there for these guns, but if someone could offer some input on what one would be a decent price for a good rifle.

thanlks

Well, if you're going to buy one, buy Canadian.....www.dlask.com

Seriously, any of the ABCDD brand from any of the major Canadian retailers will work well for you. There's even some great deals on CGN, but you may not get the warantee you want.

What type of shooting will you be doing? Plinking? 3-gun? Service conditions?

i guess it would be for plinking(iirc all ar-15's are restricted)

love the dlask dar701-4(m4) with the carry handle

are most ar-15's .223?

The AR-15 is a 5.56mm rifle. There are various configurations in other calibres, but AR-15 are 5.56 (shoot .223 fine).

All AR-15 rifles (and variants, even distantly removed it seems), are restricted.

Stop thinking. go get your plastic out, call Questar and get a RRA, or Wolverine for an Armalite, P&D sells Armalites and Bushmasters, TSE has DPMS when they can get stock, Dlask is good now too, acording to reports, it dosen't really matter as long as you get something fun. ABCDR: Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt (watch out for pin sizes!) DPMS/Dlask, Rock River Arms. All quality stuff, just pick a brand, pick a config and order a case of ammo and a few spare mags while you're at it!

Hows about the AR-180B...not restricted, right?

Jeff/1911.

Correct. Neither is the Sig P90 or the Robarms M96. All suffer from a lack of aftermarket goodies (compared to the AR), that may or may not be an issue for you. Some are rather pricey. If you want a "black rifle you can hunt with", these are the way to go.

If you just want an AR, then any of the ABCDD AR's will fit your needs. RRA and Stag arms are well regarded too. Get out to a club and try some out, and then pull out the credit card......

Welcome to the dark-side!

BTW, if you're going to the trouble of getting a restricted AR.....you might as well pick up a restricted pistol too.;)

Dlask has a special on for his AR with an A2 top (carry handle) and quad rail for $1500. His sale ends January 1st.

The Stag Model 1R (the basic one) looks pretty good to me. Any opinions on this vs. the dlask 701?

Also...14.5 or 16 bbl? For plinking, targets, tac rifle shoots.
Thanks
