Thinking of getting a CSA VZ58 ... I have questions ...

The ones I have for the vz absolutely 100% will not fit in my sks, the lips on the end are too wide to fit. They have to be hammered down to go into the sks.

I have a 1953 tula, maybe that makes a difference? Maybe the chineee ones have sloppy tolerances who knows. I suppose I should say "on MY sks my vz clips will definitely not fit". Sorry to ruffle panties.

Are you talking about your vz52, vz52/57 or your vz58?

True surplus SKS stripper clip won't work in the vz52 vz52/57 rifles, but will work in the vz58.

The stripper clips I have for my vz58 do not fit in the sks, I just went and doublechecked in case I had lost my mind or something. They don't fit, no way no how. That said, the 3 or 4 that originally came with the sks "kit" fit in both no problem.

The side rail with quick disconnect top mount is nice, and considering they're pinned to 5....you need about 20 extra magazines. :)

I went and picked these up (same place I got the stripper clips that upset everyone) ;)

I also grabbed a flash suppressor while I was there, but I don't really think it does anything, there wasn't really any recoil OR flash to begin with.

*** edit, I should mention that the CSA model is drilled and tapped for that scope mount. There are two allen screws in the holes when you get it. I didn't even know it was a feature until I read about it by accident somewhere. Makes it pretty easy, and it does hold zero fairly well.

Interesting. I didn't know they were drilled for a mount. I was thinking of waiting for the 958 instead, but this is something to think about

At the momen I've got Browning's version of the FNAR for hunting deer and while accurate, it's HEAVY. A lighter .30 cal would be great and I'm thinking the VZ58 would likely work well inside 200m. Not sure if I'd be comfortable taking a 300m shot with a rifle that shoots 3-4MOA.

3-4 MOA would be with the milsurp ammo. You could easily cut that in half using decent ammo. Of course in the real world outside of internet fantasies not many of us can shoot better than 3-4 MOA using the stock iron sights anyway, especially at 300 meters. :)

I now all about those lovely claims. I own some "precision" rifles and even with a good hand load, it's not always easy to get sub MOA, let alone the .5MOA that everyone on the Internet seems to be able to get with factory Remington 700s.
