Thinking of getting a Glock 19x as my first handgun, change my mind?

I have a 19 and a 48. Prefer the 19 hands down. Trigger is way better in the 19, the grip texture is much more aggressive and the size of the grip works better for my hands, G48 is too small.

OP, if you have the chance to handle the 19x, it fits and the trigger feels right, go for it.

Glock’s are great guns. I have 1911s, CZs..but the 19 iis what I tend to run.

Try the Glock 48. Grip is different. Might be better/worse than a 19 for you.

PSA has announced a clone of the G19 for about half the cost.

And try a Canik. I have Glocks and prefer the Caniks.

I cant change your mind, I own 6 Glocks and a steel $2500 Tanfoglio competition pistol. And I am shooting the 19X the most lately, it is my favorite Glock straight from Glock the way it is internally

Besides adding some aftermarket Trijicon HD sights, an aftermarket connector, some Vickers magazine base pads and frame plug

I even put a full trigger spring kit in it, and took it out because the stock trigger had a better break feel

If I could only keep one it would be the 19X

17/34 or 19 before the 19x. Buy a used one as they usually come with extra mags/holster/sights/etc. Love my 19x now that I have a comp on it. The look of a long grip and a short slide was kind of silly to me. Not being able to put a Magwell on it also sucks. Trigger is my best Glock trigger. Would not recommend to first Glock buyer but if it’s that or no Glock, get it.

FYI I have seen at least one company making magwells specifically for the 19X that fit with the front nub without any mods to the pistol frame, I am sure more will follow

+1 for the Glock. I had always wanted to pick one up, started out with half a dozen different "fancier" pistols I was not totally satisfied with.. finally got my hands on a g19 and I love it.. it just works & feels right. The only negative is the oem platic sights, putting on some trijicon hd or whatever you prefer is a huge upgrade

Awesome you guys have been very helpful, I appreciate it. So I'm pretty much ready to pull the pin on one, just wondering if those of you in know think it's worth waiting for any upcoming sales or should I just get after it? Saying that I don't have EE access yet but I can't really imagine I would be saving that much on one seeing as they are pretty new, if it's just 100bucks different I'd rather get a new one.

Glocks dont seem to ever go on much of a sale, most of the 19x on EE people are asking pretty much full price. Did see one for 500 last week though

Glock 17 is the Toyota camry of guns and glock 19 is the corolla. They aren't the most beautiful guns and don't have all the bells and whistles of other brands but they work when you need them to. A properly maintained glock will run and run and run.

^^ Exactly. It goes boom when it has to. More bells and whistles/moving parts is just more parts to break. In a doomsday collapse of society situation keeping it simple will be a factor in survival.

so im not a glock fan boy.
i prefer M&P when it comes to plastic pistols.
but several years ago a 17C fell into my lap and i could not turn down the price point of it.
i put that pistol through HELL!
never cleaned it, treated it like a x-girlfriend at 3am on a Saturday night.
just plain treated that pistol like i hated it.
and it worked every frig'n time i took it out.
it ate all the thousands of rounds i fed it and i never cleaned it....ever!

finally i had to admit that the damn things are tanks.
and i gruelingly had to admit they where super reliable.
then i thought since they are super reliable i should try to find one that fits my hand better, everyone says the 19 is the way to go, so i got a 19TB.
not gonna lie, liked the size better but the finger groves drive me nuts!

another year went by and i wanted to get into 10mm so i picked up a G40, again, gun never fails, but holy hell is that pistol huge!

so there i was with a small glock.... a normal glock.... and a massive glock.
then the 19X came out.
i picked one up and instantly fell in love with it!
it is by far one of my favorite pistols.
accurate, comfortable and flawless function.

so as far as i go i would recommend the 19X to everyone.
in fact i tell people if they are only going to own one pistol they should probably get a Glock.

now dont get me wrong, there are still a LOT better pistols out there for the price point.
Canik and Walther's (pretty much the same) as mentioned above have probably the best trigger out of the box and are real nice.
i prefer the M&P family because they fit my hand like a glove.
Ruger makes some nice economical pistols.
while i dont like how shodow's feel in my hand i hit bulls with my dads every time i shoot it.

at the end of the day there are 20 - 30 pistols in that price point, if you like the look and feel of the 19X then pick it up, it wont dissapoint.
after you get comfy with it then for #2 get one that fixes the things you dont like about the Glock.
keep moving forward like that.

19X -> Canik -> Shadow kinda jumps.

Biggest downside to a Glock is they feel like your holding a 2x4 when you hold one they have a weird shape and are more square with small round corners like a 2x4. My P226 feels like heaven when I hold it the shape just feels comfortable especially after putting on the hogue rubberized grips just wow so comfortable to hold and shoot then I pick up my Glock and wish out loud that if I could have the same grip on that. But Glocks are chosen by police and military because they have the reputation of being very reliable and functionable but ya the grip is horrible.

With the veritable plethora of quality autos in the market under C$1000.00, the G19X is my last choice.

The G19X/G45 is not my cup of tea either, but then I haven't bought either one. (The grip length of the G19 makes more sense for me.)

Having said that, it does seems to me that - of the people that buy them - overwhelmingly, they are very happy with them.
