Thinking of getting a Glock 19x as my first handgun, change my mind?

That's cuz your a trigger snob Marcus! JK pal! ;-)

My preferred trigger in the Glock is the "-" connector with the NY-1 spring. I find it the most consistent. That said, many may not like that heavy a trigger and would likely prefer the std spring vs NY-1 spring. Thats what you get when you used one for work for so long. Boltgun

+1 I do this as well plus the $.25 trigger job and it does make a difference. In a free nation the 19X with that trigger set up would likely be my carry piece

Check out the IWI Masada, a vendor has them on sale, very similar in size to a G19 and they have a model that is "optics ready" which is very G45 MOSish. Cheers

The G19X/G45 is not my cup of tea either, but then I haven't bought either one. (The grip length of the G19 makes more sense for me.)

Having said that, it does seems to me that - of the people that buy them - overwhelmingly, they are very happy with them.

Everyone is different, personally I own 2 G17's 2 G19's and a 19X and my favorite is the 19X

A 19 grip with an undercut trigger guard is better for me as I can get my grip higher up, one of my 19's has been double undercut and the back strap angle reduced, so that one is better for me then a standard 19 grip
Without an undercut its just a little too short for me to get a complete comfortable grip on them

I really like the balance of grip size vs barrel length on the 19X, I am no more or less accurate with a 19 vs a 17 due to barrel length alone, its only 8mm longer with Canadain models 106mm vs 114mm

get a g23 so you can use .40 s&w and 9mm with a conversion barrel.
i'm in 'merica so freedom and stuff y'all.

Also, am I the only one that was a little ticked off that Glock added the extra lip to the bottom of the grip to the 19X so the G17 Gen 5 magazines won’t fit?

The o.p. should buy a Glock as his first gun... That way all other triggers will feel like match grade! Possibly a Hi-Point next!

Find a used Beretta 92, S&W or Sig for your 1st gun. And this from a guy who owns a few Glocks.

the 19X was made for the US military service pistol competition.
they had stuff on the contract that needed to be there.
the 19x was never suppose to be sold to the public.

Crap trigger, as in really, really bad compared to just about ANY other striker-fired handgun!! Factor in the extra $250 you will require for an aftermarket trigger to make the pull tolerable. Heavy, mushy, stacks all the way to let-off, and so on. Total junk. The rest of the Glock is OK, but why not start with a 100% winner right out of the box (and even cheaper) with the CZ P10C? Or try the SIG P320, or the FN 509, or the Walther PPQ, or just about any OTHER firearm than the Glock to see what you will be missing. Glocks are way over-priced these days when there are $540 solutions such as the P10C that are good to go right out of the box...

And yes, I own a 19X because no collection of modern handguns would be complete without a Glock. That said, I never shoot the damned thing because of that godforsaken trigger-pull...

What he said ^

How a trigger feels plays a huge part in accuracy and follow up shots. It almost makes the gun.

Try to find a gun which front sight doesn't flinch upon trigger pull while aiming.

At this point I'm getting pretty set on the 19x but be good to hear any ideas good bad or ugly?

The ugly? Any Glock is ugly.

The bad? Nothing really.

The good? Commander length slide or barrel (4.25 inch) mated to a full length grip is IMO the best possible configuration in a pistol. 1911's have been made in this configuration for many decades and actually gives the best balance, IMO. I love my G19 but I'd love an X even more.

Glocks are always a good option.
But I would go to G17 instead G19X. Longer sight radius will help you to shoot better.

G19x is a great gun, it feels pretty good to shoot. Personally I feel it is light and pretty smooth to shoot. I think you may try with different type of guns (striker fire/double action..). Then maybe you can narrow it down and see which one you prefer :) If you want to try with adouble action guns, cz or berreta would be awesome!

A contract they lost! I’m happy with my G17 Gen 5.
