Thinking of getting into Skeet Shooting - best entry lvel 12 ga o/u

While I agree that a used "B" gun is a great place to start, at a 1K budget, most will be very well used. Don't pass up a clean Remington 1100 with a 26" fixed skeet barrel or 28" Remchoke barrel if you see one. They're great guns that are easy to shoot and find parts for if they break (I have had/have several and I only ever had a 28 Gauge 1100 give me any type of grief).
This right here. If you are like any of the Skeet and Trap shooters I have met you will want another gun soon enough. You will be able to get your money out of a used Browning or Beretta or the 1100. Either one of those guns will outlast a brand new Turkish gun and when they break you can get parts. I broke a hammer in my Perazzi this spring and I had one coming the next day. It took 10 minutes to replace it. Try that with a Canuck or a Churchill.

I had a old Winchester 101 sheet for years, and I shot a lot of magpies and pigions with it as well.
These days that gun should sell about 700.oo , even less, the barrels are too thin to put choke tubes in them

What is the collective opinion on sub 1000 guns such as Mossberg Silver Reserve, Canuck, Akkar (Churchill)

The Silver Reserves had firing pin issues, and I have seen them double first hand. A fellow showed up to shoot skeet with an Akkar, and it was so stiff, he used his knee to break it open each time.
